the Template seems to be the first problem that can be fixed by putting it against the snorkel body, however there still seems to be the issue related to mounting to the pillar. Doesnt look like there is enough room to mount the bracket.

Well, it'll be a few more months before I'm ready to pull the trigger on this (damn kids wanting presents for christmas! not to mention the custom bed rack that's getting fabricated for me from Overland Racks Ontario in January). Hopefully during that time, we'll see how the 3M tape works out or some more info on the A-Pillar mounting becomes available. :)

Convenient, I was just looking at @mesojdm 's build for his snorkel.
    From the man himself:

He bolted out to his roof rack.

Correct. I cannot for life of me put holes in the A pillar. It just makes me cringe lol.

The ARB is not worth $300 more because the template is 1" off and people aren't following the instructions.

    But its your money.

The Dobinson is also a new product.

You should buy the Dobinson simply out or principal to combat the snorkel monopoly.

I wouldn't be scared. The template issue is easy enough to fix and the A-pillar mount isn't essential to its operation, but with minor tweaks I think you can probably get it to mount. The ARB template is probably correct and will probably mount to the A-pillar without any problems. I have installed ARB products and they seem to be damn near perfect when it comes to fitment. If you want a $500 snorkel, buy ARB, if you want a $300 snorkel, buy Dobinsons.

    Yep!
It’s definitely worth it. The template issue really isn’t an issue if you follow the instructions. The A-pillar mount isn’t needed so it’s a non issue. The construction of this snorkel is solid and the fitment is great.

For what it’s worth my arb a pillar mount didn’t line up either. If don’t drill your holes exactly where the mfg did on their install it’s not going to fit the same. That’s probably why yours doesn’t fit. It’s why mine didn’t.

Also please no one drill the a pillar. User double sided tape. You can’t go back if you decide to take it off after that’s drilled. Plus you don’t want that rusting either.

I kinda want a snorkel now, but don’t think it would look right on a mostly stockish truck :notsure:

Hey now Toyota themselves are pretty much doing snorkels (or desert air intakes) on the pros now.

They sit so high, but I like how they're not so bulbous and prominent on the fender
