I am usually pretty handy with automotive DIY, I've installed lifts in a couple vehicles and do lots of maintenance myself. However, my kryptonite seems to be plastic electrical connectors. I have the most trouble trying to get them apart and youtube videos are edited to make it look sooo easy. Can anyone help me undo the connector below, it's for the door switch panel on a 3rd gen door panel. I got new Kickers and want to install them...but this is slowing down the process. I did get the smaller connector in the front apart, this one is just... I have tried pushing the little tab under the U-shaped plastic bit a bunch, that looks the most obvious thing to do but it isn't budging.. help...

It's this piece that you squeeze on both sides

What do you press on on the back side of the connector? I see the tab on the front side. I think I’m missing what to do on the back.

it's going to be a mirror image of the fastening method on both sides. and just be gentle. once the tabs are clear, it will almost fall out with minimal force.

normally, i'll end up using a small precision flat head screwdriver, or a pick to push the rear/hardest-to-see clip in, rock the connector free on that side, then use the pick to push the easy to see side clear, and pull the connector free.

I got the speaker installed in the passenger side, but I still can’t undo the plug on the driver side, it is a giant pita… if anyone knows any tricks or alternatives please let me know…

Thank you! That finally did it, even though it wasn't a 3rd gen that's the same plug and he struggled a little bit too so I used some of the same methods he did, it did not come off easily but after about 15 minutes I got it and now I have new speakers, they're just kicker 6x9s but they sound a 10000% better than those OEM pieces of crap!
