Nice job and great write up. Up here in Canada if i were going to exit the fuse box i would add a dab of silicon to seal the hole. Friggin salt like to corrode things bad here.

Thank you. This is why I made the notch on the cover and not the box.
I know I'm going to be adding a few more mods, so once I'm done I'll buy a new cover. You can get a new cover cheap from the dealer.
Then I will probably drill a hole and add a rubber grommet for everything to exit through and have it sealed up nicely.

Can you apply this procedure to a 2015 Tacoma Doublecab 4x4 TRD Offroad? Have you ever dealt with that before? I just moved back to Canada and have to have the DRL enabled and always on for it to pass inspection.

I'm sure it will work on yours also. Can you send me a photo of your fuse boxes?

Now if the Gov' got real smart, they would also make DLR taillights! You still see people driving in the dark without taillights because they have their auto headlight switch on, but don't realize they are still driving without lights.

Nice writeup OP, your a smart man.

I am confused... What are you trying to accomplish? I have a 2017 Sport, I start the truck, drop the parking brake and the DRL's light, then go off when I turn off the truck. I never touch the light stalk.

    OP,
Here are some pictures from my 2015 fuse box inside the engine bay. It looks like the smaller fuse box attached to the main one is set up differently between the 2015 and 2017. What was the exact name of the relay that you modified according to the panel in the fuse box? Thanks again for your help.

To be clear I am trying to modify my lights so that the amber parking lights next to the main headlights are always on.

Same. I just leave mine on Auto, never an issue.

There is also a setting in the Entune menu for DRL on or off.

Same here. I thought I was misreading something.

I leave my switch on AUTO and my DRLs are on whenever the truck is running.

EDIT: I have the TYPE A switch described here. The OP must have a TYPE B.

Kind of an old thread, but when your headlights turn on with the switch in auto, the taillights also turn on...

I also feel like mine already do this when the headlights are set to Auto on the stalk...

That seems like a bunch of work...

I just have an SR5 model... But i keep my switch like this all the time... Every time i turn the truck on my DRLs and fogs come on. Simple.

I'm not sure what OP accomplished with this mod. The only difference I can see is that with this mod the DRLs will turn on immediately when you turn on the truck. As it is they do not turn on until you release the parking brake/put it in 1st. Basically it doesn't turn on the DRL's until the truck thinks you are actually driving. That's been my experience anyway. I don't see what that's worth though.

I have a OR and do that however thr multimedia screen dims significantly to thr point where it is hard to see during daylight. Does yours do that to?

It did at first... In the settings you can change that. Go to apps... Setup...display.. Then click the daylight mode box.

To add... Just fyi if you didn't already know... You can also brighten up your dash display by turning your odometer button.

I just leave my lights on all the time. They automatically turn off so no big deal.

I don't get this. I just leave the stalk set to auto and it automatically turns on the DRL's whenever I turn it on, headlights when needed....not sure what this mod gets you.

I just leave my fog light switch on. They come on whenever the headlights come on. Go off when the headlights go off. Don't want to use them as DRL's when I already have DRL's.

How about a write up for an any-time fog light mod???

There are a lot of folks who want to be able to turn on fog lights any time the ignition is switched on including running both fogs and high beams at the same time!
