    Hey all,
I've got an opportunity to get a salvaged 3.4L engine and matching A/T out of a 3rd Gen 4Runner.
I have a 2nd Gen 4Runner I'd like to put them into. I know the 3.4L engine upgrade is a thing, but will the 3rd Gen transmission work as well?
    Thanks!

I met somebody who did this and I have pictures floating around somewhere across all three forums. The biggest problem is retrofitting the 2nd Gen T4R to OBD2. The owner of the swapped 2nd Gen that I saw was a mechanic and was able to basically trick the truck into thinking it still had a 3.0L if I remember correctly. The OBD system was bypassed and did not even have a functioning CEL.
