    Why not just go aftermarket?

other solution is to just mount your phone next to the head unit. I stuck a mount on right above the hazard lights switch

Has anybody figured out a workaround to match up the dash display with the headunit? Minor issue, but I would like to get back to the blue dash display without having a bright white head unit... 3rd world problems...

Is the DCM only offered in the entune 3.0 premium or can the plus and basic run it too?

Hi, I'm new to the forum and have been looking at pulling out my old Entune 2.0 Base non-navigation, non-JBL head unit and putting in an Entune 3.0 with CarPlay. After reading through this thread and looking around, I've narrowed down my options to either the Entune 3.0 Base 7" (86140-04110) or the Entune 3.0 Plus 8" (86140-04230). I've read however, that putting in the 8" version might cause fitment issues with the trim piece around the head unit. Does anybody know if I can put in the 8" unit and have it fit or am I limited to the 7" unit. Ideally, I would like to have the larger screen.

I’m not aware of any fitment issues between 7” and 8”. My understanding is that the dimensions of the head unit are the same, it’s just the screen size within the head unit that is different.

For reference, I installed an 8” entune 3.0 system in my 2019 TRD Off Road with no fitment issues.

With you coming from an SR5, if you have the lower end head unit (with the volume knobs on top), you will need a new trim piece to accommodate the larger head unit.

SR5 HU bezel is different size vs TRD trims.
Back in the time, TRD bezel was $400.

I am looking into upgrading my 2018 TRD OF to the entune 3.0. I just want the apple car play functionality in an OEM HU. I don't have the JBL but I do have the NAV in my 2.0 Does anybody know what 3.0 HU I would need to keep all the functionality I already have (Nav, USB, AUX, steering controls, etc.)?

Any as long as it doesn’t have JBL. Get a 3.0 base or premium just as long as it’s not a JBL version. Then you have to get the harness, but you will retain pretty much everything. Depending on premium/base radio you could loose some functions like nav and that nav screen/compass on dash but nothing you can’t live without. All steering wheel features work and if you get the base not having nav isn’t life ending because with CarPlay you more than likely using apple maps or google anyways. Just watch out for the candaian one, it comes in KM default and ALWAYS defaults back, (refer to first page for numbers)

    Thanks for the info!
Would the 3.0 premium work if I got the OEM+ audio upgrade? or would I have to have the JBL for that?

I am not 100% sure how that systems would work with the 3.0 if you got it for the 2.0 but I’d assume it just uses the factory connectors with some inline harnesses, I’d say you could probably double harness up and be ok but again I never seen how the system plugs up to the 2.0.

I just switched to the “entune 3.0 plus” (86140-04230) and lost factory NAV (as expected) and also lost the screen on the instrument cluster that would show the compass and speed limit, which makes sense. Apple and Google maps both show these so I’ll just have to get used to looking in a different spot. Can’t confirm the “premium” units would keep both of these, but just sharing what I now know.

Everything else still seems to work fine and the 8” screen is a nice upgrade from the old 7” one, though the resolution could be improved.

Solid upgrade for less than $600 with the harness.

Has anybody been able to make an entune 3 head unit work with the older entune 2 navigation box? I saw that you could buy a navigation box and cables to add navigation for the entune 3 system so was curious if you could retrofit the older box to the new unit as well

My entune 3 hasn’t been charging my phone or connecting to CarPlay recently and it sucks not having navigation even if it is slightly outdated

I’m unsure that that would work. The UI is completely different between the two and I doubt the new head unit would have been designed for interoperability with the old navigation unit.

I was thinking of getting the 86140-04230 like you, but you mentioned losing the speed limit in the instrument cluster? Just to clarify, you clearly said "speed limit" as in the current road's max speed limit is lost on the instrument cluster, right? Sorry, i just need to hear it because I really wouldn't want to lose the digital speedometer.
