I've researched all major manufacturers of exhaust systems that are offered for the 3rd gen I could find and compiled sounds for almost all of them.

If any of you know of some I am missing, please feel free to add below.

Mods, please sticky this thread for future reference. I'm sure it'll answer a lot of questions.

Is that Tacoma OEM or OEM Performance Exhaust?
Now if I could only find a text-to-audio translator this would be more meaningful.

    Hi everyone,

I am doing some custom exhaust work and I'll let you know how it goes, but so far I might have a great setup for us. Does anyone know if a 2nd gen tailpipe will work on a 3rd gen? Dynomax makes a 2nd gen 2.5 which is what I'm working on with the AFE catted y-pipe. I remember somewhere seeing a posting that the 2nd gen Tacoma stainless 2.5 will fit so I ordered one today. I believe I'll have to cut off the hangars and reconfigure but that's the custom world. My setup in the end is pricey but for the catted y-pipe and the flowmaster HP-2 and a Borla muffler it sounds awesome so far but I need that tailpipe to work. It looks to be the same shape. So far all in around 1K, but that's the whole enchilada. Zero resonance with a small Borla Pro XS but I've decided to go with the touring muffler instead of the XS.

The TRD exhaust could best be described as what boomer audiophiles go through. The lets spend all the money on "better" speaker cables to hear a tiny difference where as the general lay person can't distinguish between the OEM and the TRD exhaust. I added what could be described as the gold plated binders aka the TRD insnake and I still can't hear shit. I guess that's what I get trying to make my Tacoma not sound like Karen's Highlander. TRD = Totally Reduced Dinero

Can you type out the sound of the Stromung under cold start up and under full throttle acceleration?

    Thanks!

Quite frankly, I don't give sh** what the average person (or you) can distinguish. I bought it for me, for both sound and durability.

Don't shoot the messenger, but the tonal difference is nothing to scream about in a Costco parking lot on a Sunday morning. I bought parts and would have a hard time recommending anyone spend the money on them. They do look nice, but that's about it

I'm in my latter 50's but enjoy a well tuned exhaust, not the open pipe noise factories that many teenagers seem to prefer. Not sure if it's the Atkinson Cycle but I've yet to hear a V6 Tacoma that I thought had a proper exhaust note......but that just comes down to personal preference, at the end of the day.

Thank you so much for this, I can attest to the Gibson one. This is my first ever aftermarket exhaust and it is so low frequency that it drones in the cabin but it is not noticable after 40mph if you have 12.5" wide tires. Sound dampening the cabin might be my next project after k&n cai. If I could have afforded the corsa... I would have done it, that thing sounds cool.

P.S. I took the 4" exhaust tip off of the exhaust and it seemed to lower the sound by like 5% lol

MBRP turn down that exits in front of the rear axle is a silly fun on my 2021 DCOR with MT.

It's true, all V6's sound whimpy. V8's and even V4's sound better. Must be the timing of the pistons? Imo, aftermarket exhaust for a V6 is like dressing up a turd. You can try as hard as you want, headers, cats, the works, but it'll still sound a bit weak and there's no getting around that. Best not to compare them to V8's at all. The aftermarkets do make them sound better than a stock V6, but that's a low bar to clear.

more deep with a burpy gurgle. I coast on my street in 3rd this thing gurgles very well for a V6. At WOT I have no complaints
