If any of you guys are looking for an exhaust for your 3rd gen, aFe Power offers a 2.5 and 3in exhaust for the 4cyliner and it sounds amazing! I went with the part number 49-46034 as my truck is a prerunner build. What they use is 2.5in stailness steel piping and a high-flow muffler. If you have any questions about the exhaust let me know!

No I have not yet dynoed the car as it was just an exhaust install. Hopefully, when I do headers they will dyno the car because it will need a tune.

Just to be clear you have a 2.7 sr5?

That’s a rare combo in the 3rd gens I looked everywhere for one in Texas...

I like the way the tip is tucked up in. The standard 4x4 tail pipe hanging down has bugged me since I bought my first Tacoma back in '95...............

I am not a rep, I am just a customer that really enjoys the product

Its awesome because it sits flush with the body and is one less thing I have to worry about hitting on the trails.
Cost will run you about $500

Any sound clips out there for this system? I'm thinking about it...

By chance have you any video or just a sound clip?

I am leaning heavily towards his exhaust.

How much louder is this compared to stock? Muffler looks quite a bit smaller, but im sure it sounds good. I have an aFe exhaust on my v6 and it sounds great

DISCLAIMER: I have the 2TR-FE engine (4CYL) and this will sound differently then the V6. I also like to drive my car... spiritedly. I would say the shots outside the truck and inside are the most realistic sounds you will hear. The first shot of the truck I would say is more "brap" then really there is. Only took over a year and a half but here is the quick vid I put together.

Was it me or did I hear a slight “VTEC” from your dual vvti engine around the 2:30 mark? Sounds great man! Seems RPMs were right around 4K or a tad under and I swore I heard a change over.

Sounds great man! I may end up going this route on my 4 banger after all. Just might add another muffler to try and keep it pretty close to the stock noise level

Possibly might be adding a resonator to the exhaust. I love the sound off-road but IMO its kind of gotten old on the street. Either that or going to fully dynomat the car, haven't decided yet. OEM audio would sound a lot better.

Hey all, so I just installed this exact setup on my access cab long bed and the fit was going great until I ran into a snag. If you have an aftermarket tow hitch (I have a Curt setup) the rear section may need to be modified. I cut about 5 inches from the rear-most section right before the turn-down tip and welded it back up. I’m guessing the OEM hitch doesn’t sit as far over as an aftermarket, anywho, works great now! Nearly stock sounding at idle, good on the highway, just a little loud climbing hills but I have an LCE header as well so that’s where I’m guessing I have some extra noise, but it’s very tolerable.
