No problem! Some hints that might be helpful....

    1. Mount in the same line as existing piping (I had them mount it 4" higher then stock, NOT needed as the muffler itself is already smaller then stock)

    2. The larger the piping size over stock = deeper more "V8-like sound" = loss of a little bottom end torque

    3. Is definitely loud, really loud..... but only when its given throttle! It is quiet and barely heard in the cab at idle, I can literally just talk normal when chewing the fat with my 8 year olds...but when it gets gas...she screams!

Good luck @St.Germain let me know when and if you get it done, I would love to hear it or at least hear your opinion on the end result.

Thanks for the video.. I am trading in my 5.3L Silverado next month for a Tacoma and the exhaust sound is one of my biggest concerns - I want a truck to sound like a truck. I love how my Silverado sounds when I crank it up and I love the sound under load. This is one of the best sounding exhausts I have heard on a Tacoma. Could you maybe (please?!) make another video off the sound under load? Tires and exhaust (muffler) will be my first 2 mods to my truck and this exhaust sounds good... I want to compare it to some 40 series flowmaster videos on youtube that sound pretty good too. Thanks!

i will report back, but it's gonna be a while, so many irons in the fire right now (buying another new vehicle as i write this, at the dealership).

really good news that i may be able to fit the traction bar again. it does not play well with that huge ass TRD muffler.

I sure will! I actually already have but somehow others sounds keep interfering during the clip/ video. I will try and get some up today. I've heard the flowmaster 40's on the 4.0 engines...I bet they do sound pretty good on these 3.5L too. My set up definitely loses its "deep" tones above 3000rpm like all the other systems ive heard, but definitely still has a deeper tone when compared. Also the sound from inside the cab is totally different. It sounds like a different exhaust from the inside. More "transformer" "performance" sounding vs. "small block in the water" sound? haha...hope that makes sense. Im pretty sure the flowmaster would have a comparable "deep" tone. My only issue with the 40's ,in my experience, is the sound entering the cab. Somehow the spintech set up I have doesn't drown out the cab under everyday driving.

I appreciate it, sir.. Yea, I can't speak for the drone inside the cab and am only going off of some videos on youtube but the 40 series and super 44 seem to sound the best to me. All the others tend to get raspy quick and/or sound more like a car than a truck. I love the deep tone and I understand it's never going to sound like a V8 but some deep rumble at start and all the way to 3000rpm's would be nice.

    Thanks again!

Has anyone put a magnaflow or flowmaster 50 on their truck and kept the stock piping back? I hate the chrome tips and lack of backpressure on a lot of the cat backs! Or any other suggestions? Pfa

So sorry it took so long!

I got (4) new crappy vids of the exhaust sound inside cab parked, inside cab 0-45, inside cab just driving normal!

I will hopefully have some better quality ones later today!

Everyday it sounds so much better! Ha!

So I got to drive a taco with a Flowmaster 44, up in size on piping...while it definitely sounded "deeper" than my spintech 3000, it also had a lot more drone inside the cab. The slightly annoying, constant pipe sound entering the cab. A slight vibration to the ear drum...my set up has this around 1200-1300 rpm, the 44 seemed to drone throughout the range, basically the whole time ths truck is on. A little too much cab noise for me and my ear drums. Now that being said the sound was "deeper" and a little under body sound deadening spray or some dynamat would fix that up really quick...also if he wouldve went down in piping size, I dont think the drone would be as loud. Over all, for my ears...glad I went spintech!

They did! Back to 21.5-22mpg on freeway and 19.5-20 on the streets! Unfortunately due to the sound quality being so awesome...my foot hits that gas a little more!

I’ve heard a lot of great things about the TRD Catback Exhaust Systems, but not much on people that have removed the cats from that system. :notsure: Would be interested to see/hear results from the resonator(s) if you do the install.

That is exactly what I did when I first purchased my truck. Cut the stock tip off and welded the TRD Exhaust Tip. Then painted it Black. However, I’ve been shopping around since because I know I want a new system and better pipe routing with my re-route and tail pipes. I’ve hooked up with a well known company for a custom Dual Exhaust System. I really love the Tundra OEM TRD Dual Catback System, but they do not offer it for the Tacoma’s YET! New protype will be getting developed in a WEEK on my Truck. Drone = Loudnest. Haha. When you can’t even hear yourself think. I’ve asked for a deeper sound but no Drone. The key to that is using as close to the stock size piping as possible throughout the system as well as some other stuff obviously. Hoping to soon, two weeks, have some new sound clips, photos, etc. Then have this new prototype out on the market for others to purchase.

Is your truck stock? Just wondering if you’ve lifted your truck, added 33” tires, gears, Tune, or have done any other mods with getting 21.5-22mpg?

i removed the rear cats and have the urd y pipe on with the TRD muffler. it's ok up to around 4k where it starts to sounds like a typical thin buzzy v6. i am looking to change the muffler probably to a Spintech and I'm considering adding in a small tube resonator in just after the y pipe merge to bring back some similar resonance that came from the cats. the only v6 I've ever heard actually sound good is VW's VR6 and this thing is a very far cry from that in terms of sound.

Cant wait to hear this set up!

In the end, I ve already excepted the fact that I own this little 3.5L V6 that will really never sound any better then it does now. I could tweak something here or there but in the end, this is as good as this V6 can sound...and I'm ok with it...i'll take what I can get! It sure sounds way better then stock and so much more fun to drive! Rock on gentlemen!
