They told me pretty much everything except normal wear items like brakes, exhaust tires stuff like that.

Tacoma’s don’t break, no need for one.

I got the extended warranty so I could help myself to the popcorn and soda in the Toyota lobby. Paid for itself on the first service visit!!

I have to agree with everyone else. These trucks are well built and reliable. You still see so many older models on the road.

My 98 Tacoma had no issues, My 00 Tacoma also purchased new is still running strong, Replaced an oxygen sensor 10 years ago or so. Saved money by not buying extended warranty.
2019 Tacoma TRD OR 4X4, no problems and I don't anticipate any. I've got 27 months till my factory warranty expires, but if I do I may consider Toyota's extended warranty.
I've also had a bunch of Honda's, 3 Civics and 2 Accords all with $0 out of pocket maintenance. I have confidence in Toyota/Honda reliability.

Skip the extended warranty in my opinion.

I was in the camp of never buying a extended warranty until my last 2 vehicles. I bought the warranty on my wifes Highlander a couple years ago because of all the technology and stuff on these new vehicles. The Warranty has already just about paid for its self after a big repair earlier this year. On my New 2020 Tacoma I plan to purchase the Toyota Platinum Warranty within the next year are so from one of the online places that folks have recommended on this site. With all the stuff they put on these trucks now, One repair and will be paid for.

2016 Taco AC bought new, just passed 60K miles, I have the Platinum 6 yr 120k mile extended. Radio dies two weeks ago, blank screen but could still hear music. I pulled the unit from the dash, messed around to see if I could troubleshoot. Toyota replaced the unit under my extended warranty, parts were $1900. plus 2 hrs labour (clearly a slow Tech LOL). Still on the fence as to whether the ext warranty was work the $3k.

    FYI

never purchased an extended warranty on any new vehicle and if something is going to happen, it usually happens within the 3 yr/36k mile bumper to bumper dealer warranty anyhow, has been my experience.

I bought a Toyota for the reliability, no extended warranty for me.

If I buy a warranty it’ll be for something known for unreliability and likely a fun sports car

I was with the business manager today and was pushed on the technology failure risk. I'm only getting the SR, so no tech pkg and no smart key. I plan on keeping it til it dies, so not the end of the world if non essential electronics fail.

I bought a 20 TRD OF DC last july, bought the 6 yr 100k mile Platinum. Absolute peace of mind for 6 yrs. For me it just works, and I get how reliable these vehicles are.

    Cheers

Any extended warranty is a gamble for them, but the odds are highly stacked in their favor. You are better off saving the money yourself. A low percentage of people actually use the warranty, and then they dictate the terms of said warranty.

There's a reason it's the biggest profit margin for the dealer.

Agreed, all I car about is powertrain warranty from the manufacturer. I put a couple bucks aside from every check for any future repairs.
