anybody know how to get through the firewall on the 3rd gen? Trying to run wires for ditch lights and ran into a roadblock trying to get the wires run through. Any tips or ideas?

Follow the wire loom that already goes into it. Poke a hole in it and run the wires

    Yup
You can use a good stiff piece of wire coat hanger. Tape the wires to the end of rod, pole into rubber material and pull through bu inside behind the carpet

Even better, you can stay away from the main loom. On the drivers side of the fire wall near the brake booster there is an unused rubber grommet, maybe an inch in diameter. Remove it, poke a hole in it, and run your wires through that.

On the 2nd gens there should be at least one spare grommet in the firewall, more toward the passenger side. I assume thats the same in the 3rd gen. If your cable isn't huge, it might be better to go that route

There a spot to the left of the wire loom. I took out the plug, drilled the plug and then cut a small hole in the carpet on the other side. I ran the wire through the plug and put it back in place. Worked great for my ditch lights.
