Ahhh... got it. This helps me a ton. Thank you.

Re: low beams on with the high beams, that makes sense to me. The condition I'm trying to solve for is: Lights OFF (completely off, middle of the day). Pull back stalk to HF (flash). Do only the HU or both HU and HL come on?

My thought would have been "just the high beams/HU" but likely not the case.

Just walked up to mine, key in pocket, but otherwise parked and off. Headlight in auto position like always. Zip tie to flash position, both high and low turn on.

    Edit: stock halogens

Why's it any stranger than any other thread? There are far more obscure rabbit holes on TW than this one. I gave my reasons why I asked the question in the first post.

Only BMWs should even have Flash-to-pass. Everyone knows how they drive.

    And.......... you're back.

Got nothing better to do on a Sunday than to troll TW for some threads with keywords in them and provoke the OP while on your quest to making the world a more just and true place?

As much as I'd like to claim that my reason for asking my original question was to single you out in hopes you'd then grace this thread with quippy little jabs, I'm not that creative.

My reasons for starting the thread were exactly what I stated. And if it's my choice of words "flash to pass" that has you all butt hurt, then take your fight up with Toyota. Here is there wording in their service manual and why I chose such offensive wording:
