Hurricane Beryl put not one but 2 trees on my garage…….destroying everything in it , including our 2 cars……..and my lifted, OTT tuned 2021 TRD Sport…….

spent the last week battling Auto Insurance company over valuations, payments, retrieval of vehicles, all the while finding replacements………..wouldn’t wish the experience on my worst enemy…….

got lucky, found a 2024 TRD Sport with 2200 miles at a non Toyota dealership ( best way to buy a Tacoma)……and have a few questions……

    1) do I have to worry about protecting the Cats or did Toyota design the truck better…..?
    2) bed mat doesn’t fit?
    3) tonneau cover doesn’t fit, even if 5ft bed, is still 5ft bed?
    4) can the guys that find new tonneau covers please put links and prices paid…..that would be a big help……

please don’t respond with a “read the forum”………just want a little help…..got bigger issues to deal with…..

    thanks in advance

Ouch. The cat is hidden up in the engine bay. It's not really accessible from below.

    dam, sorry to hear that...
cat is tucked up in there nice and safe
    bed mat doesnt fit
    tonneau doesnt fit

I picked up my bed mat at a nearby dealer to save shipping. Part # is PT318-35240-02 for 5' bed. Absolutely essential, the new bed without spray liner when wet is like a nonstick pan, your stuff will be flying everywhere. I dont know exactly what zip code you're in so just go to this and search at bottom for dealers near your zip
    Truck Bed Mat (toyota.com)

havent done a tonneau cover yet but alot of people I see are going to realtruck. How much $$ depends on your budget, they go from $300 - $1300

    good luck...

Good luck, and I feel your pain.

I just got the second car back from the shop, which has been in since May's hail storm. They are still fighting a supplemental for a paint job that was not budgeted for, but at least the cars are back home again.

My roofer hasn't even started work yet. That one went to arbitration where my appraiser argues with theirs, and is expected to reach a settlement within the next two months. I hope.

I hope yours goes easier. Insurance has gotten nasty recently.

I toyed with that idea myself but I'm glad I still have full coverage on all vehicles.

Two cars got hit by softball sized hail. No glass was broken on either, both qualified for PDR. And coincidentally, both needed a hood repaint after PDR, but everywhere else survived the suction cup treatment.

    The final cash bill was:

    Car 1: $5.8k, I kept a 1k deductible.
    Car 2: $3.5k, I had a 2.5k deductible.

9k for a mom and pop PDR, 3.5 of which was out of pocket. Had both cars been on liability only, I roughly estimate that it would need 7 years between now and the next claim before liability would come out ahead. My last claim was a windshield chip, 7 years ago. I lost money on comprehensive already.

If anything, this year has made me rethink hard about how much of my savings I should keep in cash and how much I should keep tied in investments. I suspect my cash account will be looking mighty thin by end of quarter, after the roofing bill comes due.

Had I been on liability only, I would have needed to pay cap-gains on my withdrawals. :anonymous::anonymous:

    “Discount”?
More like hard dealing, and taking advantage of an opportunity……..Ford dealers want to sell Fords, not distracting buyers with Toyotas…….

    Paid $38,400, for 2500 mile 2024 Sport with MSRP….$43,682……so 11/12%
