    Howdy all

Couple quick fuse questions on my 3rd gen 2021:

    1. In looking over a table that lists what each fuse does, fog lights look to be listed in both Fuse 3 (FR FOG) and Fuse 14 (with the RH lows.) Why are there two, exactly?

    2. Thinking of wiring up some grill (raptor-like) lights. It looks like there isn't a separate side marker light fuse under the hood - the TAIL fuse is inside, but I'm not sure that controls them - - Is there a separate marker fuse under the hood I'm missing? I will likely just t-tap in to the side marker light as others have outlined in other posts, but was just weighing my options.

    thanks in advance

I have my raptor lights tapped into my inj fuse. My raptor lights will turn on and stay on whenever the battery is on.

"fuse 14 rh low" would probably make your raptor lights turn on when the low beams are on
"fuse 3" will allow your raptor lights to turn on when the fog lights are on. (Im not certain on this one, I've never tried it)

DRL fuse will do nothing if you're curious

thanks - I’ve read that some folks have seen error codes when tapping in to the injector fuse. Assume you haven’t had any issues?

still curious why two different fuses list fog

I've had no error codes, I've also removed the add-a-fuse numerous amount of times as well (still with no issues).
For the fog light thing, Toyota probably combine as many electronics as possible to cut down on fuses. SR doesnt have fog lights so that may be another reason we see two fog fuses on all the other trims

Well in the 2nd GEN the relay would only get power from that same fuse in order to be able to have them ON, you wouldn't be able to use the fogs without the low beams ON. The fogs shut off when the HIGH beams are selected even though the switch for the fog would stay ON. (Most State's requirements)
In the 3rd Gen you can have the Fog ON after Tails is selected, but they still turn OFF when high beams are selected.

BTW, the fuse info is for a 2nd GEN (link you posted)

If your skilled, you could assemble a T harness so you don't cut the OEM harness. Does your Tacoma have LED headlights or Incandescent ones?

Have you looked at the connector to the side marker? The incandescent headlights have 5 connectors, the new LED headlamps only one connector.

i looked at the side marker briefly - it has the purple and white wires which I believe correspond to hot and ground according to other posts I read.

I’ll have to check when it’s light out.

This is what it looks like from the outside

Hmm - okay - I just checked the Spec sheet - it looks like I misread - the daytime runners are LED

Excellent, there's a connector that carries the TAIL, DRL and Ground. You could get the connectors and terminals and assemble a T harness for your grill lights:

    upload_2020-11-7_2-25-49.jpg
    Or
    upload_2020-11-7_2-41-54.jpg
    Or the add-a-fuse to INJ...

awesome - thank you - it hadn’t occurred to me to set it up with the harness like that. I considered a t-tap connector but this would be the ultimate plug (and unplug) solution

one question though - I assume that you would want to tee in to both lines to keep a connection between the lime and the marker continuous - so that in the event the grill lights short for some reason, the marker would stay lit? (The grill would in effect be parallel and not serial)

    Both lines?
One is the juice the other ground.
    But, yes, parallel...
The 2 lines from each connector (male n female) is to keep the wires weatherproofed.
