Thanks for sharing. This is exactly what I’m planning to do with my German sherpherd mix since I have two car seats in the back. Now I just got to get a shell and sell my bakflip.

Yeah, growing up our family had a Rottie/German Shepherd mix that was 200 pounds. He legitimately looked like a small bear. A dog that size is an anomaly but they’re out there.

85lb Dobermann also. No kids so generally he rides in the back in a hammock mainly for the winter... But have a cap and a bed back there so he can snooze. Soon as the truck moves he is laying down. Can barely tell hes there. Prob not the safest method, but it works. Also 2nd gen. Oopsies...

My baby,Rhane (pronounced rain). It's just her and I,so the entire backseat is hers. I +1 the hammock style seat cover. Easy to roll up when not in use, toss em in the washer when it gets stinky, and it protects the cloth/leather seats! Congrats on the new little one!

Pretty happy with this setup, so far kept the seats very clean. Good fit for the Tacoma.

I like it a lot I use BBS instead of sand and each bag weighs about 2.5 pounds. It wears him out pretty quickly and it’s added some muscle. He’s only 14 months though so I don’t use it too much. Just a few sprints then I take it off, I have the parachute attachment as well. You should of seen the first use with it. He flipped out and tried attacking it while running in circles then ran into a wall. Lol.

But I recommend it, specially if you have a working breed to drain some of that energy.

Lmao I can only imagine,my dog would do the exact same thing. Glad to hear it works well! My girl loves to wear her backpack when we go on longer hikes, and it does help with her energy. I'll probably get one sooner than later lol

Probably won’t work too well if you have kids but if you are like us and don’t have kids you’ll be fine. Shepherd is 7 months and like 57 pounds and has plenty of room.

I fold the rear seats flat and then put a heavy duty carpeted runner rug from home depot. Was like 8 bucks, the seats flipped up build a little wall. And takes two seconds to throw it in the bed if I have people with me. And seats are clean. The hammock didn't work so well with my OEB.

Thats a pic of him at about 180lbs this summer, he is 16 months now @205 should finish around 230lbs. I'll post something with reference later. Despite his size, he is the biggest wuss in the world. We have two French bulls who run the ship, completely fearless, he runs when I put a new trash bag in the can.

This looks like a pretty solid idea. I wish my 2016 had an electric rear window.

I put the seat down. Got two medium sized moving blankets from tractor supply. I fold one in half and lay on top of seats. The other I sort of fold to fit on the seat bottoms and tie off. Works good in this 2019 and my previous tacoma. As he sometimes like to sit in the middle of the back looking forward, i keep a folded towel on the front passenger seat and a small fitted towel on the arm rest storage thingy in the middle. This helps to catch any drooling. Also, for cheap seat covers, and what i did for the 2019, i go to walmart and and get the gray colored Dickies seat covers...inexpensive...fit really well... and prot20170221_133416.jpg 20190220_160131.jpg ect the seats. My pup is a 67 pound aussie shepherd who has to go wherever i go.
