Im trying to put a 3rd gen receiver (jbl) that I bought from a member on here in a 2nd gen truck. I have a double din dash kit that I picked up from Crutchfield. But of course the opening on the kit is 4" tall and the new head unit is closer to 9" and a little wider. Any tips before I get into it with the Dremel tool? Links to another product that would fit? Thanks

Very little of this is going to actually work.

*Edit* I see where you said you got a JBL head unit. So let me correct myself. None of this will work

That might be the case. Although I do have a JBL 2nd gen. Didn't mention that above

As someone new to this but wanting to swap a 2nd gen JBL for a 3rd gen JBL can you explain why this won’t work? Thanks!

Mounting brackets, dash opening, connectors on the back, communication with the JBL amp, communication with the truck’s computer. None of this is the same between the two generations. And now it’s even different between the 2016-2019 3rd gen and 2020+ 3rd gen
