This forum is gonna be on how I made my headliner hold patches just like the 2nd gen. It will show you what I did and also will show what not to do. I completely ruined the headliner I had and from the dealer they cost about $1500 give or take $300. Luckily I found one on eBay and it worked perfectly fine. Now after that being said I’ll list the steps I took.

    List of needed things
    • Headliner
    • 2.5yds Joanns black headliner fabric for double cab.
    • A upholstery shop to spray glue. They have industrial glue. DO NOT USE CAN GLUE!!!
    Tools needed for trim removal
    • 10mm socket 1/4”
    • 1/4” Ratchet or driver
    • 1/4” extension
    • Trim tool
    • #2 Philips screwdriver
    • Small flathead screwdriver
    • Multi pack wire brushes from HF
    • Sandpaper 120-240
    • That should be it.

First Step: Remove trim and seats

tip: watch this for removal of rear grab handles and coat hooks https://youtu.be/aGv6AbZRuus?si=pIOmayGSEbl-FOhY

Sun visor- #2 Philips and pull down.
    Sun visor supports- twist off

    Second Step
:Unplug all wires on headliner and remove by going out the back door(double cab)

Third Step: Peel off the first two layer of the headliner. DO NOT PEEL THE FIBERGLASS LAYER OFF. THATS HOW I MESSED UP.

Here is a picture of what it should look like being peeled off.

Forth Step: Remove all excess foam with harbor freight steel wire brush and sandpaper after. Tools pictured above. You might be able to find a better method. This worked for me. It’s cheap.

    After excess foam taken off.

Fifth Step: Take to a reupholstery shop and get them to use industrial glue. It’s worth it. It cost me $50.

Sixth Step: Reinstall everything the way you took it out.

tip: watch this for reinstallation of rear grab handles and coat hooks https://youtu.be/aGv6AbZRuus?si=pIOmayGSEbl-FOhY

    It reinstalled.

    Seventh Step
: ENJOY THE PATCHES NEVER FALLING OFF AGAIN!!!!!!
