thank you sir! I made an account and subscribed to have them notify me when they’re in stock. They have a couple osram that seem decent enough I might give a shot with the 20% off

Tungsram is not GE’s parent company. GE used to own a majority stake in Tungsram, but GE Lighting has sold European entities to the Tungsram group:
“In February, GE Lighting announced the sale of its business in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Turkey, as well as its Global Automotive business, to an entity controlled by Joerg Bauer, a former GE executive. The first milestone sale was realized in April 2018, when Tungsram Group assumed ownership of Tungsram Operations Kft., which included GE Lighting’s Hungary-based operations, employees, assets and contracts.“
    https://tungsram.com/en/news/with-t...losed-tungsram-is-ready-to-take-on-the-world#
GE is a huge international company, lighting is only a part of it, they have medical, electrical and turbine engine divisions etc., Tungsram is small change compared to GE.

You are correct, that explanation was oversimplified and not accurate. Point was the product wasn't changing, just the label on the box.

The only reason I bring up the clarification is in my engineering work I often deal with GE electrical equipment including their power turbines, and the thought that Tungsram could own GE made me smile.

An while certainly this is no indication of the value that the GE umbrella brings to the table, lest anyone shed a tear about the aforementioned breakup, perhaps this will help dry your eyes.

Unfortunately GE appears to be headed the way Westinghouse went, selling off businesses to stay afloat. I hope they can turn it around.
GE had $95 billion In sales last year, an article I read said Tungsram CEO hopes to have $1 billion in sales...in 10 years.
    For the record ;)

Okay here are my pictures of my 2020 Taco SR5 fresh out of Mejico. The low beam 55w H11 LEDs are also used as day time running lights. I just photographed the back of the H9 halogen bulb 65w so I didn't have to take it out again but I'm sure you can see it in the front view of the headlight as well as my reflection. Let me know if you think my dealership substituted after market stuff in my truck. The truck also has auto high beams.

Low beam also daytime running light?

Yeah those are definitely not OEM LEDs. Toyota LEDs are sealed units, along with other reputable LED replacement headlights (Morimoto XB/Aloha Rex). I would call your dealership.
The SR5 DRLs are a dual filament amber bulb that acts as the turn signal as well. It’s a 7440 bulb. The low beam and DRL are completely separate bulbs.

This is interesting. Could you get a photo of the back side of the H11 low beam bulb? Are there any markings on it? Highly curious and following closely...

LOL yeah the GE conglomerate is massive, GE Lighting was comparatively inconsequential.

Generic aftermarket. Those did not come from the factory, and are not legal.
    https://sbxparts.com/contents/en-us/p1701_H11-V10P-PerfectFit-LED-headlight-bulb-kit.html

The only reason the beam pattern looks ok is because how the projector works with the internal cut off shields, while it looks fine in a short wall test it will not project distance like a halogen.

Hmmm, so you're saying that my dealership or the plant in Mejico subbed in some after-market lights? I definitely didn't change them. With the truck being on the lot for such a short time I can't imagine why the dealer would do something like that? This is interesting to say the least. I will contact the AutoNation dealer tomorrow with this concern. I did get a good deal on the truck.

The back side of the LED bulb has a square area where you would expect to see a manufacturer's sticker but it is blank! Does that mean the unthinkable? There is no discernible marking on the 'bulb'. Very interesting. I will take it for a drive tonight since I have not driven it at night yet.

Yeah that sure looks like the 'bulb' in my truck. I will call the dealership manager tomorrow and find out what the scoop is on this. BTW, how do you know that they didn't come from the factory?

Keep us posted. Really easy to fix obviously and the stock bulbs were not great, but a dealer shouldn’t be swapping bulbs like that. My local dealers sell the Philips LED kits, which surprises me, so I wouldn’t put it past them to ‘upgrade’ the bulbs (it is a downgrade) but to do so without the customers knowledge shouldn’t be done.

I assume IIHS would tear them a new one if they switched parts mid production?

I wouldn't be shocked if the dealer bundled it as some sort of "upgrade and protection package" coupled with WeatherTechs, LED headlight bulbs and nitrogen in the tires or something.

    @Kairide

Mostly correct. The 2019 SR5 uses 7442NALL bulbs for turn signals and DRL. I believe that the 2020 is the same.

Yeah, zero chance an illegal poor performing and likely dangerous aftermarket LED bulb swap that was never tested came from Toyota production.

    Exactly my thought.

Wait a minute. Isn't AutoNation a used car dealer? I thought you bought it from a Toyota dealership? No Toyota dealership I know of would spend the money to swap in inferior bulbs. However, a truck sold by a used car dealership could have just about anything done to it by the previous owner.

BTW, those are the factory halogen housings, not the factory LED housings. Just I like I predicted.
