well... i think we are still waiting to find out if oem > mori xb gen2. but unless crash's tests show that oem led >>> mori xb gen 2, i think i will be going for the morimotos.

I'm going to go way out on a limb and bet that the Morimotos won't beat OEM.

You guys are lucky in that you can buy a simple harness to upgrade your headlights to full LED. For us SR/SR5s it sounds a lot more complicated.
Makes me wish I could go back in time and buy a TRD OR/Sport with LED from the dealer.

Wrestling with these options currently. Morimoto has a 5 year warranty. What makes you say "die after 2 years"??

I haven't seen reports of main emitters dying, but many people with 4Runner XB headlights have had chips in the DRL strip flicker and die. It seems to be the same particular ones in the corner of the strip, so likely a manufacturing flaw.

Just putting it out there...at least for me, the difference in pricing between the OEM and the Morimoto's is not that great to make me choose the morimoto's without hesitation. A set of OEM's plus a harness is about $1500 total whereas the plug n play XB's are like $1360. A difference of $150 isn't sufficient to make me wanna jump on the XB's like that...

My XB v2's were closer to 1000 with Black Friday pricing. That's a big enough difference that I care a lot.

Additionally, just because they're OEM doesn't make them any more supported by warranty (vehicle or part) when they're put on a model they're not intended for and using a customer adapter. At least with the Morimoto I'm using them in the intended way and would have some coverage up until the warranty gives out.

Good point. OEM LEDs actually state only a 1 year warranty from date of purchase.

If I could get the morimoto's for $1000 then yes, of course. But for the time being without a discount being offered it still makes it hard to make a decision one way or the other. C'est la vie!

Bollsa doesn't exactly have a good reputation for honest marketing. You could see my review of their multicolor LED that they claimed worked just like a halogen in post #29 here. The lux numbers for their lights in that test are inflated since the test is too short for accurate measurements. They were thin, the member that sent me those bulbs forward them my review. I did mention they could actually have a decent product if they used a single row of emitters supporting one color rather than trying to stack two sets, as the width of their PCB is on par with Hikari, so if they focused on building a focused LED like Hikari rather than a gimmicky one it could actually be decent.

And WTF is this. We added a 9th random emitter so now there is no dark spots?!? Thats not how it works. They retained the dual stack of emitters in their Gen2 line vs going to a single set for a properly focused LED. The lack of focus will mean more foreground light, and the 9th emitter thing is just dumb and makes you wonder how the alignment is centered on the rest of the chipset. It certainly isn't 1:1 to a halogen like they claim. Its like they can't focus on building a well designed LED and just have to add their special dash of gimmick to set them apart.

Wow, that was more than I expected but much thanks for taking the time to clarify.

I went with the Philips H9s for my low beams so no to LED but heard this brand mentioned in a video so I got curious.

Are they the Hikari Ultra H11? I've been checking on Amazon for a while now and they keep going in/out of stock. Last i checked it was like $101 for used bulbs which is nuts considering they've made their way down to almost half that price at one point...

they are indeed. They only have about 3 hours of actual time while on. I decided to go back to halogen while i save my pennies for OEM LED Headlight replacement.

Not at all... i've been going back in fourth with different combinations. The output was fantastic. I just figured if I was going to go LED, I'd replace the entire headlight. That was my ultimate goal. I just went back to halogen because it works for what I need now.
