I'll update the 2nd post and spell out all the recommended options more clearly once the last of the bulbs come in. Looks like they are currently due 3/10.

Worst case if you decide to go with the Hella Osram Hyper H9s, the GEs are still a great bulb for the fogs.

Received these today from Rockauto.com. They are a good option for canadian buyers.
    Gonna try them tonight!

It won’t be a massive improvement for the high beam, but it will be an improvement, and only costs ~$20.

I should pick up the blister pack just to confirm they are the same, but I am fairly certain they would be. Those do say made in South Korea. Also note on the package the E1 And DOT labels I was talking about earlier. Let us know what you think! Try to get to an area outside of urban light pollution if possible.

Note that those are not the bulbs recommended in this thread. Those are blue coated, like Sylvania Silverstars, and blue coatings filter yellow light which is a large portion of the halogen output. It is somewhat along the lines of thinking if you wanted brighter headlights, would you apply window tint over the headlight lens? No, of course not. So why would you do it on the bulb? Filtering the yellow light will make whiter output, but the coatings will also reduce output. I haven't tested those to see by how much, and I am not sure who manufactures that bulb since Hella outsources the manufacturing. The ones recomended in this thread are manufactured by Osram Hyper performance series.

And those would filter out so much light that they will be a downgrade from stock despite running higher power. While many people want whiter light, any coating reduces output. Despite running a performance architecture a 4000k bulb might not even match stock. A 5000k bulb will be a significant hit on output.

He’ll probably need a set of those headlights in order to give a real answer to that.

I’m def interested, but not $1,250 interested if they’re not fantastic. I’ll wait for other people to post results

Agreed, even for the TW group buy price at $1,000 they would have to blow every other competitor out of the water to justify that price however afaik this is currently the only unit on the market with 2 low beams per side instead of 1 which is why I asked that question because let's say the LED on this kit isn't as strong as another model but since it has 2 it may end up being beneficial. Staying tuned for the official output results from Morimoto which should be released shortly.

To be clear, the comments on drop in LED bulbs into halogen housings do not apply to LED assemblies built from the ground up for LEDs, like the Morimoto XB headlight assemblies. Those will have a proper SAE beam pattern.

Number of projectors on low beam doesn't really mean anything. You can have 2 projectors at half the output equal to 1 projector at higher output. Multiple projectors could be used to fill in the beam pattern for a narrow area projector running a lower output LED. For example, take a look at the Morimoto fogs. You would need 2 Morimoto LED fogs, which means 2 projectors aimed above and below each other to match the pattern coverage of a single KC G4 LED reflector fog. But even matching the coverage, the KC is still brighter in intensity, making them a higher performer than dual Morimotos. Which could be similar to the Morimoto LED headlights vs the Toyota OEM LED headlights. It is really impossible to say without having more information than has been released.

I thought about ordering them to test, I took a bigger hit than that on the foglight thread, but decided to pass for now.

The Morimoto fogs put out less light than the stock H11 fogs, so maybe the headlamps will be the same story :notsure:

They put out roughly half the output of stock, but their beam pattern is smaller than half the size of stock, meaning the illuminated area is brighter even though the cumulative output and coverage is less.

I think about it periodically. All the threads operate at good losses, but I resell everything I test as like new never mounted, so I’m only out the delta.

Maybe I missed the info, but is there a matching fog bulb in color temp and performance to the hella H9’s?

I’m sold on the Hellas for both lows and highs and want the fogs to look identical. Thanks

Has anyone tried the Hella H9s in the fogs. Curious. Would match my others well.
