I'm getting that exact noise right now with my OME BP-51 Coilovers. Sounds like mine is coming from the LCA.

Huh. Bizarre. Please let me know if you sort it out or it goes away.

I've had the noise before when lifting truck and not yet getting an alignment. So I have an appointment for alignment set for Wed, hopefully that does the trick. Other clunking noises have come from the shop not tightening the cam bolts enough so you can try to torque that down to around 100lb.

The thing is, I didn't have this noise prior to removing the leaking coilover and re-installing it. I also didn't touch any of the alignment bolts during RE/RE. I don't think I need a new alignment...

During re-install my lower control arm did "drop" down when I removed the knuckle, but I propped it back up with the OEM jack and re-installed the knuckle without any issues. Could that have affected something? Can't think of any reason why it would, but who knows...

The preload might have been adjusted when they did the rebuild and that could possibly throw off the alignment just enough. Well, let me do mine on wed then I can tell you if it helped or not. I have the lifetime alignment through firestone.

The preload definitely changed (they set it to zero) when they sent it back, but I adjusted it back to the original setting (45mm exposed) I had recorded prior to taking the coilover off. So everything should be identical to how it was prior to the swap.

Lifetime alignment is a hell of a deal. Wish someone up here offered that. Good luck!

I think even if you set it back to the previous setting it still probably will be off by a bit. Yeah the lifetime alignment was $175. I've taken my truck in like 6 times already. It's nice to have especially when you have coilovers and continually making adjustments.

Who did you purchase your coilovers from because the line ICON is feeding you, sounds like horseshit to me!! If the squeaking is coming from the seal, then most likely the seal is dry, which is concerning because it could eventually fail due to it being dried out and brittle. What type of knocking are you getting? If it's when turning, be sure to check the nut on your upper control arms to ensure they have not loosened and moved.

I bought the suspension through AutoAnything.com, via their 20% off sale. (That sale was the main reason for buying ICON. I didn't even seriously consider King at retail price.)

The explanation does sound strange. The rep said something about the seal needing heat to somehow adjust it? Yeah, I'd also expect the seal to not be dry and to move along the shaft smoothly.

The knocking does not seem to be turning related - it happens when driving straight, along reasonably smooth (but not butter-smooth) roads.

I think I'll have to pull it (part way) out again tomorrow and grease the bottom shock mount/spacers. If that doesn't help I'll have no choice but to give it the 200+ miles ICON mentioned. It's very strange that the noise disappeared last night; not immediately after re-torquing (still squealed in the parking lot), but rather after/during about 30 min of highway driving. Perhaps ICON's suggestion does have some merit behind it and this "trick" can be reproduced on a permanent basis with more driving. Will see...

Let us know what happens and good luck man because there is nothing worse than thinking your buying the best and still wind up having issues. Hopefully it all works out.

The more I think about it, the less it makes sense to grease the lower shock mount. There's not enough movement room at that joint to account for the squeal in the above vid. It has to be coming from something with fairly decent "travel." Could be the swaybar, but more likely the shock. Will have a chance to do some driving over the weekend - will see if anything changes.

Probably not the sway bar unless you didnt do the relocate and its rubbing somewhere. I don't even have my sway bar in.

I'm not even sure whether the sway bar relocation was done. I saw it mentioned in ICON's install instructions, but I don't remember that component being in the box. I had a shop do the install, so it's entirely possible I'm mis-remembering. I'll have to check the next time I'm under the truck. In any case, I ran this setup for about two months without any squealing, so relocated or not, it shouldn't be the swaybar.

I replace my standard icons for ET resis 2 months ago and my pass one clunks and squeaks. No leaks though. I'm pissed as well. Just don't have time for this shit even though icon is 20 miles from me. Whoever is building these needs to put the pipe down.

Ugh. There's several other threads with all kinds of noise-problems from ICON :(.

The solution is to start voting with our wallets and buying something else!

Mine work fine. I run 0 preload ( no lift ). Just the dam noise over bumps.

Interesting new observation: the cyclical knocking goes away when applying brakes.

No can do on the vid - don't have a GoPro.

I've got two separate noises/issues that (I hope) stem from the same problem, which (I hope) will go away with more mileage.

    1. The constant squeaking (see vid earlier in this thread).
    2. The cyclical thumping that happens constantly and seems to be related to speed/wheel rotation. This is the one that goes away as soon as brakes are applied.

At higher speeds (100kph) the knocking turns into a jackhammer. And I think my brakes feel strange - they don't engage until much lower pedal position than before. I wonder if something got messed up when my lower control arm dropped down ...
