So I'm guessing the previous owner knew the one finger death touch or something? Hopefully he doesn't come looking for his old truck. :boink:

Good callout. Based on some other comments I've seen on the forum it seems some of the 16-17s weren't glued to the roof very well and are loose as a result so I know some folks have used some silicone or 3m adhesive to reattach but that (I think) requires dropping of the headliner which I have been too lazy to do!

I'll try this simple solution and see how it works. Didn't do it all summer but now that it's cold it's driving me nuts again just like last winter!! :)

wonder if the heat produced by wireless charging can cause the plastic and glue to fail over time.

Actually, I’ve been thinking about this. Seems like an opportunity for someone to research and sell some kind of precut clear or black plastic guard or cover to go over the areas over the door handles.

Just picked her up. Turns out it cost them that much because they had to replace the entire center console  Something to do with Toyota's bid to reduce overall number of parts in vehicles. They can't just order the charging pad, it and the console are married at the factory that produces them.

However, for the speaker, they couldn't replicate so they did nothing -.- But it was left open such that if it continues to be an issue, I can come back and get them to look into it more. I have no doubt it will continue. The tech did apparently say he doubts its the tweeter itself, and more than likely in the actual radio... as in a problem with the $5000 infotainment head unit. Weird enough, I've gotten a few messages from people with the exact same problem as me, in the same speaker, under the same circumstances. Service advisor said if enough people get the same problem Toyota will have to make a TSB out of it, and if that means they have to replace the head units, I have my fingers crossed they'll do so with the new 2020 units with carplay :D Remains to be seen, though... If you have the same problem, tell your dealership!

Well then, that makes more sense. Now it appears that the HU is made of gold, but funny I can't find it

4 1/2 years and 45,000 miles, nothing in the interior has failed (except for my Super Duper Extraordinary to the Max heaviest duty floor mats won't keep mud and sand out).
HOWEVER! I did install a brush guard early on after 'touching' a log on a beach popped some keeper/snaps holding a lower front body part on.
I can avoid bumping anything again; its those people and shopping carts you can't control.

There was a time when those overhead consoles were actually screwed into brackets built into the roof panels. Much better way to do it than glue, but also more expensive. No wonder Toyota says not to put anything weighing more than .4 pounds into the sunglass holder.

This is disappointing as I'm guessing that the no Qi cubby is the same way. I was hoping to find either a used one or maybe order one from the dealer. I'm planning to install a scanner in that cubby and wanted to be able to cut the cubby and have a replacement handy. My other plan was to cut a panel that matches the mounting screws in the cubby and install the radio that way. Now, I'm concerned that the back of the console might not be strong enough to hold the weight.
