That OEM nut caught more threads than the new ones you installed. In the pics of the new ones, i can't see any threads passing through even on those teeny little nuts. I wanted to point that out, but you do your thing.

Its to ensure proper thread engagement and torque achieved. Generally for self locking nuts, you want height of nut + 3P; which is 3 threads.

Certainly not the "best option to start with" but who cares? 30$ for a lift is fine if you don't offroad...not everyone needs kings and a resi for a lift kit lol

I'll make a point that I'm not laughing at him, but it's worth spending the extra time putting in longer hardware.

Here's whats going to happen in this thread...

A bunch of dudes who have been on the site forever are going to say, "Brah you need more threads!" Then the OP who joined like eight minutes ago with his brand new truck will be like, "Fuck you guys, I obviously know what I'm doing. You all spend thousands on your trucks and I figured out how to do the exact same thing for $30 bucks." Then the old guys will try to politely correct him, then they will get annoyed that the OP didn't listen at all, and everything will go to shit.

$30 and you can't spend the extra few $$ on hardware to finish the job? Do you share the road with anyone? That's how accidents happen.

    Lifted my truck $2.00

I just don't think this guy should be calling people dicks , especially when he's not following standard practice of securing suspension to his truck which he shares the road with other people who might be harmed if / when it fails.

how hard is it to change the studs? I want to do a spacer like this but I wouldn't use the nuts if they end up looking like that... I dont think these nuts are under a very heavy tension load though... most of the time the load is on the base of the strut right? the studs only hold it aligned and in place when the suspension extends fully...
Or am I just completely stupid?
    anyway...
How hard is it to change those bolts?!

It's best to have six threads of engagement to be secure . But even if you decide to leave with you have you need to get an alignment.

thanks for the pics and info ..... and for all you guys that say the nuts dont have enough threads, if you knew what your talking about you would know that the factory nuts dont have any threads in the big spacer part of the nut so the new nut has just as many threads if not more plus the nuts dont have any real force on them at all .. if your doing crazy flexing and stuff that mite be a differant situation but thats what limiting straps are for not suspention hard wear.. also i bet you you will not see this guy on here talking about alinement shit because his truck drives like shit now.. and after spending thousands.. just check on those nuts for the first couple 100 miles... if there is problems get longer studs..

    Still waiting for it
Do you have to disassemble the strut to hammer the studs out?
