Front windows tinted to match the factory tint of the back.
    Plasti-dipped all badges.
Left the dark gray chrome on the grill, plasti-dipped the silver chrome surrounding it.

I'm very unhappy with the finish on my 3rd gen. I have the grey. I bought my truck basing the paint job on the tundras and 4 runners. My paint is blotchy and the clear is thin. I can't read through 1600 replies on here but has anyone else noticed this. My truck was made in Mexico

No my paint quality seems to be fine. I have washed and waxed it several times too and I have noticed zero chips or anomalies in the finish.

Funny thing is I looked at 2 brand new ones at a dealer today and they both had it. One worse than the other. Both made in Mexico. Mottling shouldn't happen with water based paint... I bet they're using solvent paint in Mexico. I can see it on my dirty truck but I'm in the autobody industry

Oh yeah, I got the Leer 100R on, Yakima bars installed on the rails. I went with the Yakima bars to run 2 canoes side by side. The Leer is an awesome upgrade.image.jpg

The only thing I've noticed is the paint on the grill surround is cloudy and doesn't exactly match the paint on the hood.

I notice the very same thing. It must have something to do with paint on plastic vs paint on metal. Perhaps it's a metallic paint thing. I bet the guys or gals with either white or the dessert sand don't have this problem.

I think it's just a quality control issue. If you buy a new grill it comes with a painted surround. Makes me think that the grill surrounds may be painted somewhere other than where the trucks are painted. Metalics are really hard to match, especially without blending. A lot of bolt on late model Toyota parts are sold prepainted. I had to replace a MGM mirror cover on my wife's RAV4 and it came prepainted.

Thanks so much for the reply! Really appreciate that. I'll probably go with the 90021 shock as well. I'm going to be building a small cabin this summer and plan on hauling lots of lumber and such. The location is "out there" with no pavement, so, better get the higher valving. Really appreciate your response. Keep posting pics of your truck. It's so nice!

I guess one would have to do a rear dif breather mod if you were launching a bigger boat and submerging the dif right

Actually my last gen Tacoma dcsb pre runner did a great job pulling, launching, and retrieving my 22 ft boat. But this is grass and mud here. I'd be stuck here for sure.

So I have my heart set on getting the MGM. Really want that color actually, liked see it on Tacoma's for years. Only problem the only Tacoma with the features that I want cost about $2k more (comes with Tonneau cover as well) then the black.

Would you MGM owners have paid $2k more for this color or stick with Black?
