I’ll let the dyno graphs be the deciding factor. (More interested in TQ #’s)
I live in commiefornia as well, we all know emissions suck. Having a CARB cert is cool.. (definitely a +1)but not a deal breaker without one. If you are into the performance game In this state, this shouldn’t be anything new.
You are saying a SC will add more resale value than a Turbo?? (Taking CARB out is the equation)

That must mean something different out there than it does around here

I think doing anything overt to your taco is going to decrease or at best not effect it's resale value. You might be able to get more for it, but you'll have to find that one person that is willing to pay. We all know this is a losing game...

On the subject of reliable power, I know I saw Toyotas spec sheet on the 2gr-fks floating around somewhere online and I recall it being like a 11.8:1 compression ratio or something crazy high like that. To me thats almost what I would expect from a very racy N/A motor. (I Im sure this question is addressed somewhere in the 500 pages of one of the OVtune threads, but) I find it a little hard to believe that the TT 3.5L lexus motor doesnt have different heads which give a lower CR. Maybe someone knows for sure though.

Its not a concern that FI on such a high compression ratio would cause higher cylinder temperatures/pressures? Technically the motor spec sheet says 91+ octane just for a stock truck so seems to me like FI on pump gas with an 11.8:1 CR would be a little bit outside the realm of possibility, but then again OVtune does have all those threads saying otherwise

This comes from someone who has spent a lot of time working on cars from the 80s when 10:1 was considered high. The whole reason I got a new Taco was because I dont have the time for unexpected wrenching on the 1st gen 4runner anymore...

Yes yes I am. The famous debate SC vs Turbo. SC are know for linear power control and low end boost. The SC has a intake bypass at low throttle the turbos do not. turbos waste gate will be set at 3psi each? So 6 lbs boost. Not for 11to1 motor, what a waste. Now change compression to 8to1 put 15 psi boost to it. Then you have my vote on turbos. But for the common joe that wants OEM ISO built and engineered product with 60 years experience. Or you can have as it says “ Racing -Off-road use only” Doesn’t that mean I’m not taking my kids to church on Sunday with that vehicle any more? But the Tundra is coming out with a Twin turbo V6 next year.. That should main stream this turbo kit. Apples to apples it needs a ISO cert a warrantee and a CARB. But ya know that just my opinion. Too each his own ?

Direct injection, chamber design, VVT, cylinder head, etc.
We tuned boost on pump gas engine with 13:1 compression. No problem.

Each Watergate is 6psi, and that's the lowest. More boost is easy, and we've done 10psi already.
Not sure why you think we won't do any certifications, just because we haven't said so yet.
Our NA tune was tested and certified emissions complaint.

How much boost you think the SC is going to be giving you, 15 psi lol?

On a 2gr? Wow thats crazy. Just achieved that compression by decking the block/milling the head with stock pistons/rotating assembly? It really amazes me what these modern engines are capable of if thats the case.

Ha.....no the SC would never be able to keep up with twins at 15psi or provide that. I think the SC will top out at 8.5. If planning to go big I think your kit is the way to go..or if you want to add more later than your kit is the way to go. Curious does your Waste gates vent back into exaust system like all the OEM systems for motor balance at WOT ?

    They are internally gated.

Wastegate configuration and motor balance at WOT isn't a thing. And that's not why OEMs use internally gated wastegates. They do because dumping pre catalyzed exhaust into the atmosphere is illegal.

Please correct me if I'm wrong - did a previous post state you could increase the compression by milling the head? If so would that be worth it at all? Unrelated but I always wished for a Stroker kit for these motors

I really thought they would have released this by now. Wonder if the r&d got slowed down cause of covid or something.

Their Instagram comments on Toyota related post, “Its coming soon” kinda responses on 3rd Gen inquires. I’m still hopeful it’ll arrive before Fall.

Apparently it dynoed @ 308 wheels. Maybe not exactly 50% increase, but that's plenty for me.
