Something I learned along time ago... never have major work done before you have to leave town.... if something is going to go wrong, its going to happen pretty soon after.

Best of luck getting it all sorted out and hope your boosting trouble free soon.

Murphy's law... when you are getting something done... shit is going to go down.
Sorry you had a bad experience but it could have been worse. imagine if they didnt replace your charger! Thank goodness for warranties.

If possible, can you attempt to find out exactly which bearing is bad? Might be helpful for future issues on other charger units.

If they find it is the snout I'd say they dropped it. That SC unit is damn heavy and if you are not watching what you are doing it can get away from you fast.

This may be a newb question but why does a TVS1900 make 440HP at crank on a pentastar 3.6 but on a 2GR-FKS it makes 370HP (both numbers reported by magnuson)? What mechanical difference in the engine allows for this, I would just assume that the pentastar is more boost friendly somehow

Engines are very different. It could be ECU issues, design strength of pistons, rods, crank, cooling capacity etc. Design power capacity of the the trans, rear end, clutch, driveshaft, the list goes on and on.

the compression ratio of the taco is 11.8:1 vs the jeeps 11.3:1 too.

My race cars have the same engine from the same car, but 1 year apart. One of my cars can handle ~150HP max and maybe 2 psi of boost. The other one can handle twice that because of a slight design change. Adding power the right way is tough. Lots of variables.

It makes over 500HP on the Tundra!

Seriously though I think the biggest hurdle has been unlocking the ECU which is done (Thanks Matt@OVTune) and now it seems fueling is the biggest hurdle (Seems to be ~400HP limited) but by the grace of jesus Matt has a fuel pump controller that should be able to get people over that and on to the next problem.

I asked that very question of a Dodge/Jeep Service department. They kind of hinted that yes it will make that power but in the long run it is a Jeep and just as reliable as a Jeep. I did not need to read between the lines any further. Hint taken.

Any update on this? Mine just started making the same noise after about 8 months of driving it:(

Marbles in a can noise in the SC snout. I tested with the belt removed and there is no noise. comes back when I put the belt back on.

I'll touch base with Magnuson and see if they will share the source of failures.

Sure it’s actually a problem? The blower for the 2nd gens always made a similar noise at idle.

I'm curious as well if it's normal, I've noticed when the truck is cold, in drive, foot on brake a rattle noise. I set the E-brake and chocked the rear wheels popped the hood and took a peek, it looked like the drive belt for the blower was vibrating making the noise, hence no noise while the belt would be off...
It's not a loud as the one in the video thou..

if it didnt make the noise when new and its making it now then i would think its not normal.

too little tension wont kill bearings. too much will.

What I noticed was not enough tension due to the truck/blower being cold, about 1 inch down the belt after the snout pulley you could see about a .3-.5" deflection in the belt causing a snapping noise almost metallic but deff from the belt and not the snout bearing.. just my thoughts
It was enough to make me look into this

It’s the unloaded rotors making the noise; although yes, it does sound excessive in the video.
