    I asked a mechanic about my 22re and he said you don’t have to change the timing chain. Later the tensioner was wore out, chain rubbed through the head. Should have read the manual. It says change chain every 110,000.

    May I suggest replacing the rear diff, front diff, transmission, steering components, alternator, power steering pump etc, all at 100k to avoid further problems?

    Where do you draw the line in preventative maintenance?

    And sorry if you don't care, but telling people they should change a timing chain at 80k just for shits and giggles is asinine.
