The TRex would be a chore thats for sure lol. Yeah half of me thought it was normal because I've physically been in older trucks where I could see the stick shaking but never been the operator I guess. I didnt think itd still be like that in a 17 but I really dont care as long as its normal. I literally have not one other concern about the truck. Just wish I didn't in Orlando where it's stop and go with lights all day

Reading comprehension dude. Re read my post. I told you it was normal and why... I then didn't tell you to google this question, I told you HOW to google FUTURE questions that would give you the best search result.
Next time I see your name pop up I will make sure to just say search lol. I'm sure you'll understand then.

If you think I didn't google "3rd gen tacoma shifter shaking" then you clearly think I'm a moron. I tried to find the answer on my own but couldn't so I made a post. I'm well aware many things can be answered through Google. You never give me enough credit, it's been like that our whole lives...

I don't know you from Adam man. I do know, generally speaking, that most people have weak Google-fu. I was just trying to help.

And even some RWD cars can't have the transmission mounted in such a way as to direct mount the shifter. We got lucky as balls.

It IS a tacoma, I'm sure they'd still find a way to transmit engine shake into our hands :)

Pretty sure all the late model bmw manuals aren't directly mounted trannies. My E30 and previous E46 wasn't. When the bushings wear out the shifter gets sloppy as hell. Sidenote: the throw on a stock E46 M3 was worse to 5th gear than my Taco. What year was yours?

I've owned a lot of cars and the only RWD shifter that ever shook at much as my Taco was a 1993 Camaro V6. I agree the shifters will vibrate but the Taco indeed vibrates much noticeably more than most other cars and trucks I've driven. The shifting itself and drivability definitely is one of the easiest I've experienced. It's actually a great vehicle for a noob manual driver to learn.

'Too Long, Didn't Read' - after posting a long blurb a TLDR at the bottom means a summation of the above post.

I hate jet fighter forums. All they do is complain about rattles and unaligned bedside decals.

True, I feel like you'd have to go wayyy out of your way to stall it, aside from physically getting it into gear (especially Reverse) it drives like a beaut

nothing you can do about the shifter shaking, thats a design thing as others have stated. If youre having trouble getting it into gear, some high quality gear oil can sometimes help out with that. Ive been using Redline MT90 manual transmission oil and synchro protectant with great results, much better cold weather/cold start performance than toyota WS oil. You might also consider a weighted shifter if its that big of an issue for you. Personally I have one, but that was after the URD short shifter though to balance out the additional leverage needed to operate the shifter post-ss. It also looks tits https://www.etsy.com/listing/269757608/flossy-grip-rod-redhead-red-shift-knob

Not to beat a dead horse but......
    My two cents:
Transmission mounts are way too soft.
I still have my 94 ford ranger and I have to hit large objects to get the shifter to move noticeably.
The way the my Tacoma's shifter moves just on well maintained city streets is ridiculous but I live with it. (for now)

I've owned sticks in the following: Prelude, Accord, Mustangs (x3) and Frontier 4wd.

By far the smoothest shifting (and zero "shake") was the Accord.

The Frontier (2007) had some shake and took considerable force to get into gears, but was a fun truck to drive. I test drove two 2nd Gen Tacomas prior to buying that Frontier. They both went smoothly into each gear and, yes, they "shook", too.

After driving my automatic 3rd Gen Tacoma a couple months now....I'm having to get used to not shifting. It's a weird feeling. Sorta miss it.
