For third gen it's on passenger side. About same place. It's also a lot smaller and harder to get wires through (if you un tape it and try to slide the wires in through the sleeve).

You really should read the thread before you make posts. It wasn't the DAMN grommet on the firewall that was leaking man! You sound like an idiot when you make comments on stuff you're not understanding.

    This leaking
    20160517_064109.jpg
    And this leaking
    20160517_064203.jpg

Are two very different things. His passenger side VENT was leaking on the back wall of the truck, not the grommet on the firewall. I wasn't saying you're an idiot all the time, I was saying you sound like an idiot when you post something you obviously are not grasping. I'm just trying to help you out, I'm not "bringing it on"

I will just call myself 'a permanent idiot incapable of any basic understanding, grammar, logic, and whatever else, essentially a waste of time and space'. OK ?

So the stealthbox fits in a '16? Did the installer put it back in?

Hopefully JL will make a change, otherwise this could be common trend pretty soon.

I had an install place put a grounding screw through the gas tank on my Chevy Cruze. 8 weeks and $6000 later, the shop paid for it, well their insurance covered it and I got a free JL W7 with a custom box, lol. It was a weird deal, so I feel your pain.

    Beenjammin,
For the JL install, I see some of the trimming behind the rear seat to allow the stealthbox to nest.

How about the vent that was giving you fits? Did you remove it and seal the hole or were you able to leave it. Any other complications other than the one that started it all? Sorry if I missed the info. Lemme know, thanks.

Yes but the speaker place had to cover it. They ordered it for me and Installed. It was just some generic stuff like from a carpet store

Those rear vents do fit very loose. I checked mine out when I was looking for excessive road noise, and they were loose as F.... I sealed them around their perimeter with caulking and then proceeded to "sound proof" the rear panel...

I can see a sub woofer just blowing the damn thing out on it's own.... I doubt the installer ever touched it... The "Woofer did it" That's my take on it....

But damn....it's hard to figure out how the hell that water got to the driver's floor.... I think there are a few "hills" in the way...

It had to "wick" there through the carpet.... Damn that was a wet truck for a long time..!!

with mine, once we pulled the carpet there was a fuzzy green trail of mold showing the path the water took. Mine vent was not completely dislodged either, just enough to break the seal and allow water to come in. I liked the taco but with two kids, I traded it in on a new F150. So if anyone needs extra parts i have a few listed that id love to get rid of.

I dunno. This issue was a a good while ago and was solved. The I staller did the right thing and the truck was a pleasure ever since they dynomatted the vent hole completely. The truck was sold over a month ago. I only posted to help other know these cabin vent covers will leak of the seal is slightly pushed.
