3RD GEN ONLY Hood Swappin' N Tradin' Thread

The new trades look great guys, I'm glad everyone benefited.

Did any of you encounter any snags when swapping hoods, like alignment issues or anything unexpected? Or was it simply an easy swap?

no issues, 4 bolts, about 30 minutes of being cautious not to scratch hoods. mine went on perfect, the other one took a quick adjusting.

 

How do you adjust it? Close and check fit? Are the bolt holes oversize in the brackets?

This is jumping the gun since my truck won't be here for another 3-8 weeks or so, but I placed an order for a 2016 Tacoma OR in Quicksand

Will have: Non-scooped hood (TRD OR)
Would like: Scooped hood (TRD Sport)

Located in Central Connecticut but willing to drive somewhere in New England if needed or meet halfway somewhere.

Not at all, In fact that is what I did. Gives you time to search out a hood, and whoever you're trading with knows they will get a brand new/fresh hood. Good luck

Yeah very true, the pristine condition of it may be appealing since it will be in perfect condition. Hopefully someone is willing to trade around my area. It doesn't matter to me either way but the scoop makes it look more aggressive to me, more of a PITA to wax and clean but no biggie

Someone posted earlier he was that concerned trading his scooped hood for a non-scooped would lower the resale value of his Sport.

What are your thoughts on this? How much to you think the resale value would drop?

This is going to be a tough search. I've heard TWICE now, once from the dealership and another from a Custom accessories shop that in order to get the right part ordered, I should provide a VIN# of a truck with the hood I want. Does anyone want to share their VIN#? There has to be another way! The dealer kept trying to sell me a 'stick' on or separate bulge, not the stamped factory hood.

 

If you're near a decent stocked dealer, they can give you a vin from one of their stock or you can just go look at one on a lot and copy the VIN down.

 

Looking for Quicksand hood with scoop (TRD Sport) in San Diego/SoCal. WTT for my TRD Off-Road "non scoop" hood (4 days old, 72 miles).
