    Currently own 3 bikes.

2014 Yamaha FJR1300, my main ride

1995 Buell S-2 Thunderbolt, photo taken at its birthplace back in 2001

1977 Honda CB400F Super Sport, a sort of barn find/light restoration.

    Bikes I used to own:

My 2007 Yamaha FJR1300. This bike was used to finish the Iron Butt Rally in 2019. A rider suffered catastrophic engine failure on day 10 of 11 and I gave him my bike to finish the rally on. Just 3 months later my g/f and I were hit head on on this bike while on vacation in TN destroying it.

1996 Buell S-2T their version of a sport tourer. Sold to buy the 2007 FJR

My 1985 Yamaha FJ1100 bought new as a leftover in 1987. Owned for more than 20 years by this pic it had a later model FJ1200 front end and wheels. The one bike I should have never sold

1987 Cagiva Allazura 650 Super Sport. Beautiful machine but worst POS I ever owned. Only had it about 4-6 months and it was in the shop as much as at home.

In addition to the bikes I've actually owned I spent about 16 years working part time for the dealership that sold me the 1995 Buell. They were a Harley Davidson, Buell, and Triumph dealership when I started with them. Even though I was part time I got along really well with the owners and considered them friends. On weekends I was able to borrow pretty much anything we had on the floor as far as used bikes went. Spent time riding all sorts of cool stuff. Everything Buell offered at the time and even the owner's personal 1991 Buell RS1200 Westwind but only allowed to put 100 miles on that one. Moto Guzzi LeMans, all Triumph models from 1995 until about 2001 when we got out of handling them. Honda, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Yamaha sportbikes and standards. I put the break in miles on our first V-Rod Nightrod in 2005, had it for 3 days and took it back to work with almost 500 miles o it.

This has always been one of my favorite bikes. Nothing beats an FJR for touring IMO. Was really close to selling my 14 Victory XC and getting one. Decided to keep the Vic...its also a great tourer, but just different obviously. Never had to haul it anywhere so cant help with that OP.

The heat shield does a great job and there's no heat while riding. You can feel a little heat while stopped at a light but your leg can touch it without it being burned.
