Just wondering, what’s the purpose of swapping out the bottom mount?? Are you talking about the lower shock mount?

Extra 1” of travel. Because of the extra height of the Dakar’s if you have oem length you’re not getting quite the full extension that you should. @Downsouth Motorsports does the swap free of charge. Maybe they’ll chime in and explain a little better than I can.

Was getting confused bc you mentioned swapping out the bottom just didn’t know what part you were talking about. I got mine extended in the rear and I was told it was only removing a spacer that limited the travel on the shaft which now I get an extra inch. But I may be misinformed. I guess either way I got extended lol

I think you’re referring to the front coilovers. Front’s have that internal spacer to switch from normal to extended, but I don’t think the rear’s do

I called King Shocks and spoke with a tech there. There is indeed a rear spacer as well that will give extra travel when removed, no need for the lower shock attachment swap, unless you don't want to open up the shocks to remove the spacer.

Depends on what you are wanting to do and if you want an overload spring or not. I have Dakar 95R's, there are also Dakar 96R's for a heavier load, Deavers, All Pro's, Icon's and custom variants like Alcan's. I think most of the springs available are good quality and I chose the 95's because they have an overload spring and I do not run with much weight in my bed day to day. When I put in weight I am under 400 lbs. The Dakars were cheap enough so I will see how they work and if it isn't a fit for me I will most likely get a custom set made from Alcan Spring. I had these on my FJ40 and they were pretty amazing but it was mainly a trail rig and did not carry a lot of weight.

Are you running aftermarket UCA? How many threads showing drivers side and passenger side? Thanks.

I am ready to purchase Kings front and rear, I want a +2.5" on all sides and keep the factory rake. but when I check some sites, the rear shocks can only support up to 1.5" lift. Some advised me to just go for bilstein or OME rears.

Any input on these? and what are my other options other than doing a rear shock relocation, not comfortable in doing this for now.

Get the rears built for beyond 2" lift. DSM does it free of charge when you buy the Kings from them. Win Win situation.

    Hey all,
Just got my Kings installed. I see there is some black smudge on the hose(pictured). I turned my tire full lock and it doesn’t look like it is rubbing at all. Could this just be from kick up from the tires? Thanks!

Although rare, especially with tc UCAs, I’ve heard of boxed UCAs rubbing the hose sometimes. Just try to see if your UCAs touch the hose at full droop.

Ah okay. Is there a fix to this if it is the UCA making contact?

Not sure to be honest but I would imagine adjusting your alignment would slightly change the angles on it. Unless somehow you got a bad batch and they installed a shorter hose on it which I doubt it but it’s a possibility. Call Kings and tell them if you do find rubbing.

Looks like your tire is rubbing to me and if you look at the 90 degree fitting from your hose to your remote reservoir it is pointing outwards towards the tire. The fitting should be turned in more towards the inner wheel well, more straight up and down. You might be able to tap it over with a soft faced or rubber mallet but if you loosen the nut the shocks are under nitrogen pressure and you will risk depressurizing the system. I would call King and ask them how to alleviate the problem.
