You might be just fine sailing in waters with no official chart. maybe.
Anyhow, Darwin finds this sort of "what could go wrong" conversation stimulating.

Being cautious isn’t cool? It’s all I can figure, or they just don’t think about it, or they think they can modify the truck enough to handle the weight and are hoping it’s components that can be changed or reinforced and not stuff like frame strength that led to the trucks GVWR/GAWR.

If you want to keep a Tacoma for this, are actually planning to go off road and over landing, and stay inside the GVWR/GAWR, maybe reconsider your setup with an eye toward weight.

Do you need a 400 pounds of bumpers? Is there a lighter option you can make work? A camper shell and a RTT AND a deck system? Is there a lighter setup you can make work? What are you hauling and what are you doing once you get there?

Will one 80# deep cycle Group 31 or one 70# group 27 battery suffice? That’s already 30-40 pounds more than stock, and a second deep cycle battery is adding another 80-100 pounds once it’s wired, mounted, and secured. What are you powering, for how long?

Don’t forget tire weight. It’s really really easy to add 100 pounds there without even thinking about it.

I actually really disappointed with the payload of 1100 lbs minus people, mey girlfriend and dog equals over 400 lbs.i don't have actual plans on hauling anything, but that seems so small, a max bed weight of 700lbs. Good thing I bought this truck bc it lasts forever and looks sexy.

You’re lucky with the 1100lbs. The sticker on my door jamb says 950!!!

A lot of those trucks are maxed out and no longer able to carry even their own drivers on paper.

I don't think 1100lbs includes the driver. The door sticker payload I believe reserves about 175lbs for the driver. So you can still have yourself in the truck before you start losing payload.

On paper and legally you can't do much more with that rig. If you get the truck re-rated and get the OK from the manufacturer then you could still do more. But to get a truck re-rated like this is difficult if not impossible for a regular consumers.
