As silly as TW is, I'm surprised the crowd is mostly against these. I have never used one, but I've seen the gunk they catch, and for a multi port injected engine, that doesn't benefit from the atomized intake wash of a TBI, it seems like a good idea.

Are there any others that have put a catch can on their 3rd gen?

Seems like a good idea with such thin oil and low tension rings.

Looks like an ADD W1 catch can. I bought my red one from New Egg ( not usually known for auto parts). I have a manual transmission, so mine is installed on the other side due to the clutch resivoir.

Just find one that has that will utilize the same diameter hose as the motor. $70 is wayyyyy to much for a catch can

I actually used nylon lines. I found a tool online to make connections just like factory. The lines are 8mmID

My tacoma doesn't have one yet, but I do have one on our Mustang. When I changed sparkplugs on it I noticed the intake manifold was pretty oily and sticky inside so I put a cheap can from Amazon on it. In cold weather it collects LOTS of water mixed with a little oil. It is that that causes most of the buildup on the back of the valves. I do not understand the argument against a can. It can't hurt anything so why not?

I got a sticker and some cool valve stem caps...
This is something I've always wondered about too. I have one on my coyote mustang as well. Direct and multi port injection, same as the 3.5 in our 3rd gens. Mustang guys love them and they work. But, TW hates them.

I run one on mine. I empty it out every oil change and it’s got maybe a quarter inch of gasoline smelling muck each time.

That is the one I have, works fine. Someone reported once it makes their engine sound (even more) rattlely/knocky. I have not verified this, but my engine was never that quiet at idle.
