    None yet! It's new!
Bugly. Either buy a 4Runner, or buy a truck. My two cents of course.... and opinions are worth what you pay for them, especially on an internet forum!

some of the photoshop masters should chop a relentless fab bumper on the front of that thing, and a set of sliders ha ha

I like the last photoshop version, that looks really good to me.

Just wondering, does the hood scoop on the 4Runner serve any purpose?

You're right people buy the basic trucks for fuel economy. Which is exactly what the dual VVT-I and a 6sp auto would help with on the 4 cylinder & V6 Tacomas.

If Ford can offer an a DUAL CLUTCH 6sp auto, which is more expensive than a traditional 6sp auto, in one of their entry level cars the Focus then Toyota could certainly offer a traditional 6sp auto in the base Tacoma. FYI, Ford is also offering direct injection engines for the Focus along with the 6sp dual clutch auto. A lot of "new" technology in an entry level vehicle.

Very nice work. I like the new 4runners as a family vehicle. We have 1 and I now enjoy driving that to town instead of always taking my truck. If the new Tacomas are similar to this it would have its ups and downs like anything. They would be larger on the inside and wider on the exterior. I would prefer them to remain different.

They only help if you're trying to drive it like a vehicle it's not. if you've got a 4 cylinder truck, expect it to accelerate slowly and be boring to drive. If you want a different driving experience, buy another car. 4 cylinder trucks are designed to last forever, not be fun.

There's no way Toyota can offer their newer technologies in the stripper models and still keep their margins acceptable. They already have a Dual VVT-i V6, so it's going in. They're not going to develop dual VVT-i for a 4 cylinder until they do a new engine design because the benefits are negligible and the expense is real. I wouldn't expect them to offer a high end transmission either, as it's going to raise the price of the vehicle to cover both component cost and retooling the assembly line.

Ford rebooted essentially their entire brand about 5 years ago with a focus on redesigning EVERYTHING that wasn't making money from the bottom up. This gives them manufacturing synergies across pretty much all their models, allowing them to offer high grade features left and right, and why they're a good value brand right now.

Toyota was making money 5 years ago, and is still making money now, and their primary weapon in that arena is dead-reliable vehicles, which means proven technology with the kinks worked out of it. They may not be as cutting edge on the feature list, but I'll take the 250,000 trouble free miles over the fancier transmission any day.

From a certain perspective, Toyota's approach is the right one: Let other manufacturer's beta test the technology, then get on board when the gremlins are exterminated.

I will be shopping for a truck next year, if the 3rd Gen will look sort of like the one above I would definitely want one. Nice photoshop btw.

Great use of clone tool here amigo. Good PS work. I don't get the infatuation with trying to make a truck look fast or car-like. It's a truck, dang it! It is supposed to haul and been mean, not fast and sleek. Most of the manufacturers have caught on, although some have gone overboard echem, dodge. Nice size grill and some solid thick-looking sheet metal. That is what truck owners want. Basically the moves that they made from first-gen to second. They need to stay away from the angled headlights and smaller grill IMHO. The square cab is cool, for more room, but the fender flares need to be thick, for that muscular beefy feel.

as long as they keep the bed seperate from the cab, if they make it like the honda "truck" they are gonna lose alot of interest...

LN13 I took your excellent photoshop and tweaked it a bit toward more of what I think (hope) Toyota will put out for the Tacoma. I enlarged the headlights, grill, and fender flares. Think it takes on more of a solid truck attitude that I dig about the 2nd gens.
