OK, let me get this straight...
I'm not supposed to do this in the shower.....too wet I presume..? OK...I can live with that. (actually had not even thought of that..yet)
Now I've got another issue... what is "plastdipping"... I'm thinking of doing my GRILL not a "plast"... and if I had one... do I want to "dip" it..??

Really... I just want to spray paint my grill.....!!

You guys must be Republicans.... Can't really understand ya'll... hehehe

    Trump for Pres...!!!!

the product is called Plasti Dip. "dipping" or "derping" your shit makes it "derped or dipped". it's a popular alternative to spray paint because, while durable, it is still removable. i know a lot of people like to dip first to decide if they like it and then go ahead and get it painted.

Not difficult. If you can take off your tires and use a spray can, you can do it. Pretty cheap too, $6/can/rim and only took a few hours.

I figured plastidip would stay away from these trucks until they were at least a few years old. I thought wrong

I knew people wouldn't wait. It's too easy, cheap and easy to reverse. Looks good too. Especially with the glossifier as the top coat.

Hoping to do this to mine! Did you remove the plastic chrome pieces or did you just spray while it was on the truck?

So on the orange peel texture, I discovered that if you properly "wet out" each coat, it'll dry real smooth.

I would definitely have preferred to have my grille painted, but I'm terrible with rattle cans and would have ruined it, and pro shops all wanted 100+ to paint it (if I prepped) and all of them said it was just going to need to be redone every couple years due to cracks/chips. In the end I figured a cheap can of plastidip every year or two would satisfy my needs, and I'm glad I gave it a shot, because the stuff is an easy customization option.

Plus, it's a lot of fun.

Like someone else has posted if you saw it looking like orange peel then they didn't do it correctly. I've seen several items plastic dipped and it looked very good. Certainly nothing as bad as you are describing.

If you don't like it then don't do it....

Sprayed on the truck. I couldn't get the step that covers them off so I couldn't get them out. Dealer wanted way too much to remove and install them too. It's not the easiest area to tape. Just some wd40 and the overspray wipes off

Yerp. I will say that some people might actually prefer the orange peel though. I actually chose to keep the orange peel time 1000 texture on my front grille after learning the hard way that the stuff can't be cold when applying it. Was doing a final coat after a cold night in the garage. When it initially sprayed I was like "Welp, guess I'm starting over." but when it dried I found myself liking the pseudo plastic/rough texture. It almost matches the other black plastics on the truck. So I just bolted it right on.

It's cool to be able to change the texture to preference. This stuff is pretty doggone versatile. There's glossifiers and dip coat to smooth it out even more, and pearlizers to add a bit of a metallic like affect. I've been watching the dipyourcar videos on youtube and I'm constantly impressed.

I've seen entire cars shot with a spray gun with metallic and pearls added and it looks very good. Obviously it isn't as good as paint, but it isn't advertised to be better than paint. It has a specific application and when used properly it looks good.
