I removed it from the grille. Really easy...just a couple taps

As a note to others since I've done this as well....

Use your index finger to grasp the grille (stick it it through one of the holes) and use your thumb to push the tabs inwards and outwards. Be careful, they are fragile. I did one tab at a time without any issues. When I tried just pressing on it using my index finger, it didn't want to unclip. When I stuck my finger through the grille and then used my thumb to press on the tab, it popped right out. YMMV.

How close is the blue to your truck? You might be better off buying a small can of dupli color's color matched spray can for $7.99 at your nearest oreilys or autozone.

Honestly, I am not sure how close it is. It looks close from the picture but I won't know for sure until it arrives. I appreciate the advice on the dupli color. Until I joined this forum, I had never heard of plasti dip in a spray can. I am very impressed with your grill and hope I can do just as well with mine.

If it doesn't match to your satisfaction you can peel it right off and go dupli color. That's the beauty of plasti dip. (though many would argue there is no such thing)

That is my plan now. I just hope my grill turns out as well as everyone else's. It's funny that as an aircraft mechanic, I can fix almost anything...but put a can of spray paint in my hand and watch the disaster happen. I am going to watch the utube videos and hopefully that will help.

YouTube tutorials are life savers! Just keep in mind that this stuff sprays textured but dries smooth if that makes any sense. You won't get full coverage until the 3rd or 4th coat...so take your time, wait 10-15 minutes between coats and you'll be good to go!

How many cans of Plastidip did it take you for all 4 tires?

Thanks. My wife liked the all chrome grill and I liked the all black grill so we compromised. I actually think it came out nice to have a little chrome in there.

It took 3 full cans and just a little from the 4th to finish. So I would buy 4 to be safe. That was putting 4 coats on each rim.
I only used 1 can of glossifier to put 1 good final coat on each rim.

Had a tundra come into work the other day with most of the grill plastidipped. Looks like the job was done really good. Uniform coverage and had just enough amount of texture to it. I like that it has a little texture as it matched the other black plastic trim as far as texture. I was going to paint but may end up trying this until I can take the time to prep the chrome correctly for paint.

You're right. My grille is on my garage floor right now. Just got done dipping it and added 2 coats of glossifier. Turned out great! I took out those four pins too and had to go double check. They hold on the piece under the grille but not the grille itself
