Not to make you feel like you wasted too much time, but more for those in the future, you don’t need to do this to the wheels (all the cards between rim and tire). All you do is bag the brakes and then spray. All the over spray peels right off the tire. Super easy to dip wheels.

would be pretty hard on that taco maybe. but i've done it with small holes in rims. just have to be a bit more patient.

Also on the end of the vid he shows why you don't need to use all those cards on the rim. you just peel off the excess easily.

the vid is from the original guys who plastidipped EVERYTHING. they put the product in paint guns and dip whole lamborghinis and stuff. spend an hour or 10 watching some of their videos. good stuff.

i've dipped wheels for a good 5-6 years now. always looks great! need to find time to do my truck.

I used a trash bag. Just pulled it between spokes and tucked it around the rotor.

Thanks. I read different opinions here so I tried to take the safe route. The prep work took 80% of the time. Next time I'll try without.

I've seen a few pics where the side mirror plastic housings was plasti dipped black.
I like the contrast it makes along with the dipped grill and badges.
Does someone know how easy it is to remove them to get them sprayed? Or were they done in-place?

You can plastidip pretty much EVERY part of your car without having to remove things. that is why the product is so amazing.

That looks awesome! How many cans of black PlastiDip did it take, and also, did you use the PlastiDip Primer?
I've been kicking around doing the same thing.

Hey Caliente used 2.5 cans, cost was around $20 bucks total. I did not prime, i cleaned wheels and then used windex with a car rag. I spayed with about 10 mins in between. if you have time i would suggest 20 mins. I took the wheels off no other way in my opinion, doing it on wheels allows for drip and is sloppy. I used rustoleum gloss protective enamel. take your time in this phase to achieve desired gloss... more gloss the darker and looks more professional. I hate the look of peeling plastic dip. I used painters tape around the wheels, don't have to be meticulous, leave overspray layers so you can peel it off. Hope yours come out totally worth it. $20 instead of a G or more on wheels.

I just can't even tell you how excited this discovery makes me. I didn't know about the joys of Plastidip until now! I am thinking of doing the Toyota letters on my Pro grille in red as my first project.

My 13 y/o son is going to flip me mountains of shit when he hears about this. I get razzed for even being on TW. I'm almost giddy with the thought of telling him I'm getting ready to "derp" my grille. He's going to lose it.

oh, he'll like the result. He just likes to poke at me for being a "community member". He likes to sarcastically ask me questions like "hey dad, what's your next mod, bro"
