They are really simple to switch out and possibly my favorite chrome cover in the cab. I’m pretty sure I have no chrome or silver on my entire truck other than the headlights. And even those I’ve blacked out the side reflectors

For those that have dipped flares, how many coats and are you happy with it after a bunch of washes? For some reason I have no problem dipping anything except these haha. Makes me nervous. I guess it peels off if I hate it

Anyone that has dipped your wheels, do you take your truck through auto car washes with the spinning brush things? If so, how has the dip held up?

I'm actually thinking about doing the same thing, or maybe painting them. We're yours attached with a combo of clips and tape?

Mine didn't come with the flares so I was able to paint them before I put them on. From what I've read on some threads here, if mine would have come with the flares I probably would have painted them on the truck. The factory flares come with tape and clips and I've read that sometimes some of the clips break while taking them off. On top of the fact that you have to replace the tape before you put them back on (not sure if the 2018 flares have tape) I used tape and followed @Nitori's instructions for installing mine. Here's the link to his thread in case anyone is interested in installing flares if you truck didn't come with them https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/fender-flare-installation-on-non-flared-tacomas-tutorial.494336/.

I did like five coats of the plasti dip on mines. I've washed it two times since then and it's holding up fine so far.

I tried this with stock sport wheels and it wouldn't work there was no gap for cards to fit.

Just dipped my 2018 flares yesterday and can confirm they have tape. I tried taking off my front driver side off but didn't want to break anything so I put the bolts back on and masked it off. Don't have a picture yet but it turned out great.

3 cans for 6 coats on my flares, plus the lower nose on the front of the truck.

already blacked out all badges , just finished Grille. I did the Toyota emblem matte Gray, can't decide on keeping it gray, going back to chrome, or blacking out.. What does everyone think of the gray? I did 7 coats on the grille and seems to work perfect. Weather was a little cold but I used a hair dryer to heat up the grille before spraying , and after each coat I used heat for a couple minutes then let dry 30 min before next coat. Thanks!

I hear you. These trucks would look great if they just left off the chrome.

I made a shift knob last week, so the chrome boot ring became very visible. I tried sanding in painting it last night. By the time I got back in the boot, there were a couple small nicks. That chrome is just a beyotch to work with.
