The shop I intend to use said $110 to troubleshoot and if I choose to get them to fix it, they'll just include that as part of the fix.

Yes, I had a similar experience trying to fix my vibrating throttle. Told me they were sure there was a "Team of engineers" at Toyota working on it. This was a year ago. Told me it would cost 5-10 K to fix. And BTW, Toyota Customer Service or "corporate" is beyond useless. Better service at Wal-Mart. 100

I tried that already with the dealer for the transmission TSB. They're all useless cunts at the dealers.

Great video--he concludes that if the set-up is incorrect it will make noises. Very complicated process and could be easy to make a mistake either at the factory or replacement.

Count me in, mine started howling right at 309 miles today right at about 55mph. It was raining, windy, and the radio was on and it was noticeable. If it does not get any louder than where it is today it will be tolerable.

It probably will, unfortunately. I'm sorry you had to join us. At least you are missing out on the tranny issues.

Could you do us a favor and open a case with corporate?

    Welcome to the club.

I find that the noise is the exact opposite as tuning out the missus... you will never not hear it.

As far as corporate should I wait until I notify my dealer? I won't see them for another 2k miles.

I keep trying to sit at the speeds and see if I hear it but I never do.

As soon as I let off the gas or start feathering my speed drops too much. I've tried at 90, 95, 100, 105, 110km and can't tell. Mind you I only have about 5200km on the truck.
There's been the odd time where I thought I might have heard something but can't be sure if its just wind noise or the actual diff.

I'm more so curious whats the clunk I feel every time I stop, I've been told its just fuel moving around. And then the clunk into 1st gear when decelerating.

I've had the howl since 500 miles. I now have 11,500 miles. I guess I could be getting used to it, but it seems a lot quieter. Also, others don't seem to notice it anymore. It's definitely not louder.

I think the majority of guys here have the issue as soon as letting of the gas at a particular speed.

No. Only did scheduled maintanence. Guess it's possible I could be driving without feathering the throttle as much as I used too.

ya I've let off at those speeds and held it at them and tried feathering haven't heard anything each time.
the odd time I have which was likely wind noise howling

Nothing consistent and ffrom what I gather from this thread its not an intermittent problem

Sounds like you have one that is not going to make any noise. I was not listening for mine and it actually caught me off guard.
