You see the problem is Toyota does not.consider it an issue they write it off as normal. There is no way they are even attempting to fix the issue. I've spoken to so many people at Toyota and they are hostile and defensive like they are trying to cover something up or be sketch. I am not sure why they won't fix it or how something can be "normal" when not even close to every truck has this issue. I'm bewildered at the way they are handling my case as if I have something special to gain from having my truck fixed....

    1. They drove it once said the noise was messed up replaced the diff.
    2. 2nd diff is even louder now they claim it is normal
    3. They have put almost 0 effort into looking into it
    4. They wouldn't even have a field engineer come out he was able to determine it is okay by one tech saying it is normal.
They are not even willing to check specs, tolerances, use a recording device, seeing a dampener. Literally nothing. I'm so fed up with their f*cking shit I'll never purchase another Toyota again. What is the point of a warranty when they won't fix and issue that renders the truck worthless for 50 to 70 mph. It's so loud and disorienting.

    My experience has been similar.

But for me a field engineer did come out and he was the one telling the Service Adviser and tech working on my truck that it was normal. They were as incredulous as I am.

All because he could replicate the noise on another truck.

I think there is a TSB for this... did you by chance find a part number? I'm looking to see if I can find the TSB now.

Why is the assumption that cheaper labor results in worse quality? There are just as many Texas built riggs with issues as there are Mexico ones. No offense, but simply stating that Mexicans don't know how to build is just ignorant. Not everything made in the USA is quality but the same is true for anything else made in third world countries. We get you are upset, but an online forum is not the right avenue to get your point across. Might I suggest documenting everything and either selling the truck or go through the lemon law process. You will see results much quicker.

They have now offered a FTS guy to come look at it. I'm sure he will say that is normal. They are trying to claim I have no leg to stand on with lemon law.... I beg to differ. I just want the f*cking POS fixed so I don't have to spend thousands of dollars on a regear which is starting to seem like the only option. Biggest piece of shit truck I have ever owned hands down. Mine whines so loud you can hear it with all your windows down on the interstate next to a semi

Ask to go on a test ride with the FST. They gave me the runaround. " we're not sure when he'll be in". Then out of nowhere he shows up, goes on a test drive with the shop foreman. " normal characteristic. Nothing wrong at this time." Boom corporate case closed. Goodbye.

Even with a shops independent diagnosis they told me to f off. Demand to ride out with that FST... He is the gate keeper to getting your truck fixed.

I went with the shop foreman on my test drive. But once the FST comes and goes out alone. You're getting denied. They might even say they test drove another one to compare. Just to cover their asses.

Corporate basically told me it has to be complete failure before they replace it. I asked them how can they ensure my safety??? If I get injured. " there's nobody who's ever been injured from this".

    Simply astonishing...

That really sucks, to say the least.

Maybe you should drain the gear oil and add brake cleaner and new gear oil 1:1, then drive it around at moderate speeds (not on the fwy) till it cooks the bearings, then limp it home and pump the old oil back in and tell them there's a new problem with it. Just line up the paint marks on the plugs.

Just an idea. Sorry it's been such a hassle.

I'm literally disgusted with the truck and Toyota I don't even want to own it anymore and I will never give them my business again. When I had a Jeep they would fix issues no questions asked. With Toyota everything is normal. They are literally admitting that they designed a shitty truck. If that's normal then the truck is shit simple as that.

Honestly man. They'd rather you have your differential blow up and you vere off the highway, before they replace it for early signs of failure or improper setup.

I went all the way up the chain of command to executive offices in Dallas. After the FST opinion the coffin has been sealed.

Idk, other members like skiploader will you it's of no consequence and doesn't affect anything.

I think it's concerning how so many members just settle with their issues.

im not really concerned with my noise as its not that loud and doesn't bother me. I do agree that it's not normal and a 35k brand new truck shouldn't be making this noise, but again, it's a truck, not my life. I'm not going to invest my time messing with Corp bs and getting the run around. It's simply not a priority in my life right now. I do find it interesting to read about what developments are coming but I'm not going to go out of my way and spend hours in dealerships

Understandable I don't like wasting time either. Unfortunately mine is incredibly loud and I bought the truck to go up in the mountains which is plauged with extremely loud whining.

New diffs front and rear. Dealer told me the oil was the wrong viscosity [way too thin like 0W20] from the factory--took samples. Also, told me Toyota has know idea why they keep failing and they would probably have to replace it again in a year. They took care of me and I feel confident in the product.

As my father the attorney would say.. " if you have a warranty, you got yourself a lawsuit".

What viscosity went in after. It does seem like water. They claim it is 75w85 which is what the manual states but that seems off.

They said it was like water--probably 0W20. They took pics for Toyota of the oil and the shredded case. They used heavy oil in the new diff.
