    Not always. Dealers get paid by " flagging action" usually. Some are salary and or both. If corporate is paying them a low hourly rate to do the work, they'd rather do other stuff.

    That's what a advisor told me at my dealership. Flagging action is a term used by the Army. I think it's refered to as ' flagged'.

    No I do not have the howl, I never did have the Howl. I have 32000 miles on my 2016 SR5 2WD

    I have a slight hum at the rear of my 16 Tacoma TRD OR, but only when driving up a gradual hill in our City. Never hear it otherwise. I plan on keeping this truck at least until the 5 year warranty is almost up, but can't help being discouraged by the problems some of you have on this site. Otherwise, I'm still really happy with my truck, looks good, gets good gas mileage, fits well in my garage.

    Changing the fluid on a damaged or improper setup won't do much. It's like putting a heavier weight oil in a engine with piston slap. Just masks the underlying issue.

    And moving to 85w-140 doesn't do much or anything to the noise. Don't waste your time trying it.

    ECGS has third members for $800 in stock...

    Who’s taking the plunge? Looks to be doable in a garage or can be easily done by a local shop. Does anyone know the cost to have a third member installed?

    Would you pay $800 to fix this howl?

    even if it was a guaranteed fix, I still would hold out on paying 800. It's not loud enough for me to be worth that money...$250 would be my limit

    That's the news I've been waiting to hear for almost 2 years. I've used ECGS assembled 3rds before. They're great. Time to order one up and take Toyota to small claims court for the cost.

    I drove out to Vegas from San Diego, in the Tacoma. It was very frustrating driving through the mountains on the I-15 with a bad differential. I had to use ECT mode the whole time at 3k, to get it past 60 mph. Without ECT it would just hunt for gears and upshift and down. I had trucks towing and an ambulance move faster.

    Considering dropping it off at a dealership nearby. I can feel driveline slip, stutter also. I'm thinking U joint or yoke slip in addition to the whining sound.

    5 year, looks to be unlimited miles... So better than factory warranty? Can someone confirm that the 17 TRD OR DCSB 6MT gearing is 4.30? I want to go with factory gearing. I only go on fire roads to get to a dirt bike trail.
