I could never part with it haha. That's it all cleaned up. Its original paint and shows it's age. 329k miles. We rebuilt the motor at 307k when I bought it for 500 dollars. It needed alot of work and cleaning up but there is no rust.

BTW there is most definitely people from Toyota on here. Someone made a comment about draining my fluid and letting the rear end mess itself up to get Toyota to replace it right before I had a meeting with their field engineer. He said normal put tamper tape on my rear end and left. This tamper tape would surely fall off at some point then they would say it was tampered with. No more dealing with me, its been tampered with. Sneaky people haha.

You mean thats what they normally do? I've never heard of any dealer putting tamper tape on it.

Started to really notice it around 4,000 miles. Service department has an open RO and waiting information from Toyota. Now I have about 6,300 and it's getting worse. Sometimes I can hear it around 30-40 mph as well.

If it's not something you can live with, start looking into lemon law for your state.

They will not fix this. I bought that BS for almost two years. I regret not lemoning the truck when I could. That mistake cost me a couple grand I'm sure.

Honestly, screw that. It's tape! Going on the bottom of a vehicle that goes 70mph down the highway, gets wet, gets snowy, gets icey, gets muddy, Sandy, etc.

That wouldn't be any reasonable indication of tampering.

Toy must have an issue with people draining the diffs--they must use that 3M tape you see on gas pumps. Then document with photos and deny the claim.

Did they put it over the drain bolt?

Seriously though, as a company, you should look into why customers are doing this. If your customers feel like the only way they can get a resolution is to intentionally defraud you because that's the only way ...then maybe take a hard look at your shitty fucking differentials and the problems they cause.

Effectiveness of tamper tape is questionable. These days, if you spend a little time online, you can find a company that will make you a roll. Even the serial number ones can be duplicated.

Maybe its easier to drive to a not so nice part of town and leave your keys in the truck started and full tank of gas...

No that's not what they normally do. Someone on here told me to sabotage mine to get it fixed and ironically days later when it was at the shop the corporate guy just put tamper tape on it and continued saying it's normal. So there is a Toyota person on here (you suck big time bro) or they google these issues and follow threads.

That is exactly their plan. I said it will pressure wash off at a car wash or with a drive through undercarriage wash. Response. Don't wash it that way if you want the tape to stay on....

Fill and drain. Huge like big Xs across it haha. It's cool I got a 4runner I like it. It looks good. It drives normal and doesn't whine. My whine was damn near deafening sometimes. They can fuck themselves. Anyone I know that talks about buying a 3rd gen is advised to not do it and I just tell them the story so they can decide if that is something they want in a truck. I tell them it is normal for whining and throttle hesitation per what Toyota told me.
