Just so everyone is clear, the very first criteria in that TSB (besides the symptom) is that the trucks must be 2016-2017 double cabs.

I have an OR Access cab (with the 8.75" diff) and this TSB does not apply to me .

It whines, oh does it whine.

Edit: Also, the TSB is for the American market so I guess I'll have to see what my Canadian dealer has to say... I'm guessing deer in the headlights.

Oh not much. I don't want to get banned, but some posters clearly have an agenda and want everyone to suffer with them.

I gotta imagine it's a numbers game at this point for Toyota. DC are more likely to be seen with this problem. AC probably will get their day in the sun before it's over.*

*I had a leaky diff on an OR and thought those would get a tsb too...

You're right about that, there are boatloads more DCs on the road than ACs in my experience. Waiting game I guess..

Interesting TSB anecdotal info.. I thought my truck was sure to be on the CKP recall, as it was built within the time frame outlined in the documentation - or so I thought. I checked my VIN against recalls for months, then finally got fed up and had the dealer check my truck's exact build date (not just the month/year). Turned out it was built a couple of weeks TOO EARLY!? Um, it's a very early production '16 (09/15). I replaced the damn thing myself.

Sounds about right to me. I haven’t seen the numbers, but good chance that TRD double cabs are the most popular build? If so probably why they started there. Then on to the SR5 and access cabs I imagine. Then hopefully on to the 2018’s.

It's only for double cab with 8.75" rear end. The "all other except TRD pro, manual transmission" is where the sport, sr, and sr5 comes in. Those in manual transmission have the 8.75" rear end. OR and Pro automatics have 8.75" rearend, all other automatics have the smaller 8".

I don't even have a noisy diff, but I'd really like to be able to reference info in this thread if I ever do.

Apparently this TSB doesn't exist in Toyota's system. On the phone with corporate and they don't have it. Dealership calling me a liar. So it looks like either a leak or a hoax. Go Figure.

Hmm my case manager called me yesterday and said this TSB was just released. She was fully aware about it. She even wants me to go back to the dealer for the 3rd damn time now. I told her I have a 2018 SR5 so it doesn’t apply to me. She said you never know what the dealer will say! Yes, yes I do know. It will be a fat NO haha They shouldn’t say yes anyways. This TSB isn’t for my truck. Plain and simple. I just gotta wait my turn, lady! Ha

I have a appointment next Wed. Hopefully this gets sorted by then. I plan on bringing a copy of the TSB just in case.

Called yesterday to my service advisor. He called back today, got parts ordered. They weren't backordered, as of yet, will set up an appointment once the parts come in. :fingerscrossed:

Now just hoping the weather warms up the same time the parts come in. I see they have to tear the rear plastic off so concerned about plastic tabs breaking off (if there is any).

If any parts break they will replace it for you. Just be sure to inspect it
