Says right in the TSB "caused by rear differential vibration transferring through the chassis and body". So it is not "in" the springs as much as the springs are transmitting the noise from the diff and into the cab. At least that's the way I'm reading it. Makes sense to me. Given that, you then need to reduce the transmission of diff noise. They probably were able to get significant noise reduction in the LB cab with the frame dynamic damper only and without needed to replace the springs, but found that on the SB it wasn't enough and required new springs that were tuned to reduce transmission of the differential noise. Noise and harmonics are interesting in that small changes in mass or stiffness can drastically effect things. At lease that's been my experience as a manufacturing engineer working with large equipment.

Went to dealer today. They're going to call when the parts are in!!!:dancingbacon: They did bring up the fact that I'm past the 36K but agreed to fix it under "good will" o_O since they had diagnosed this like 35K ago.

Mine is doing the same thing. Sounds like we have the exact same truck....2016 Toyota Tacoma, TRD, Off Road, Short Bed, Double Cab. I get the truck to 55-65 mph...on and off the throttle...can hear a whining noise from the rear. Dealership drove the truck, confirmed the noise, but said they don't have a fix...and they told me a fix is coming. It's been a year now....still nothing from them. May have to sell....and take a loss.

I agree the noise is annoying.

I think the only things that were around 80k were emission equipment parts.

If your issue as properly documented I think they would have a hard time defending NOT doing the TSB. Unless you waited another couple of years and 150k+ miles.

the brake pedal buzz is there as a warning to the driver not to ride the brakes and not overheat and prematurely wear out the brake pads by riding the brake pedal.

Is that something new for 2018 with TSS? Never heard of it before and not seen anything in the Owners Manual, thankfully my Brake Pedal does not Buzz nor did any of my previous 3 Tacomas.

the buzz becomes more pronounced after the pads wear to the indicators and will alarm(buzz) the owner to replace the front pads, this is caused by unnecessary riding of the brakes most of the time.

I think the buzz on the taco has more to do with the electric assist brake booster.

2nd gen has it too as far as I can tell.

Which like anything else can be mild on some trucks and super bad on others.

I only feel it (slightly) when I’m driving in stop and go city traffic.

Have not ever experienced buzz from low brake pads. Mostly a squeal from that squeak pad that comes with them.

I am really glad that my truck makes no buzzing sounds from the brake pedal, if the TSB gets rid of the Howling Rear then I am gonna have a nice quiet truck!!!

I feel it more than hear it.

I agree though, my only gripe as been this rear end howl. Big fan otherwise!

I test drove a 2017 TRD Off road a year or so ago. I didn’t even make it out of the dealer parking lot before I noticed the buzzy brake pedal. It wasn’t even on my mind as something to look for, but it was buzzy enough it stood out. It buzzed roughly every 3 out of 5 brake presses. It actually kind of annoyed me, but I heard most don’t buzz that much. I’d prefer that over the rear end howl I have now though haha

sounds like more of a underlying health issue if your foot tingles and goes numb, usually associated with reduced/restricted blood flow like hardening of veins or arteries, i would see a Doctor if your foot tingles and goes numb and is uncomfortable just by applying your brakes.
