It's hard to notice something that isn't there dumbass. It didn't start until I had 550 miles on the truck and was 2 miles into a 3500 mile road trip.

My second one howls. Mine did not whine when I got it, but after 500 miles it did because it didn't have any lube in it. The 2nd didn't start until a few hundred miles later. I fixed it myself by putting some rougher tread tires on it so I don't hear it.

I held out for a long time on giving Toyota the benefit of the doubt, but I'm on board w/the haters now :)

    You are non sensical, indeed.

Look mush, I'm sure you're a cool dood to hang with but man you really need to gear up on the intellect. You come across as disingenuous, incoherent and just not very smart. Honestly, I would seek some mentoring or something.

It's just so very bad, really.

Word is that Toyota will offer a noise abatement as a solution. The noise is indeed normal.

Actually, this is not nonsense. I had the same issue show up around 1000 miles. It sounds like a pinion bearing or carrier bearing problem.

from what I have read lots of people had the whole rear diff replaced only to have the issue return, so what would the end game be a buy back from Toyota?

I never noticed the whine, till I read this thread. I was able to create it with just lightly pressing the gas pedal while cruising at freeway speeds.

I realized I never drive with my foot lightly on the accelerator, so that's why I never noticed it.

I'm swapping to 4.88's in my 8.75" in a few weeks, so I'll chime back in once the new gear set is broken in.

For some. For others, we just sit and wait for a solution. Toyota has some great engineers. They will solve this howling issue.

Personally, I have no doubt that a competent driveline shop could open the 3rd and fix it but I'm giving it some time hoping that Toyota comes through. Something in the 3rd isn't set up right.

No way I'm going to take a truck that's under warranty and relieve Toyota from the responsibility of getting it right
