Lashing - No - for the eagle it is the new Nikon 200-500 mm f5.6 on a Nikon D810 and for the Taco it was a 24-70 mm f2.8 on a Nikon D750 (wife's camera) ...great guess though as the 70-200 is my favorite lens...Cheers

Quickies - This is my last tank of gas with the empty bed look. Tomorrow I have a SnugTop Rebel installed. Let's see if this changes my MPG for better or worse.

Just got word mine was built yesterday with an expected delivery of 16 -20 Feb.

    The wait is almost over!

Not sure what work you think you need, just give it a thorough going over before you drive it off the lot. Because I have the towing package installed, I'll make sure they check the transmission fluid before I leave.

You're worrying yourself over posts you read on the internet about issues some people have reported, some legitimate, some due to a failure to read the owners manual. Not every Tacoma owner posts here so there could be thousands of owners out there driving their trucks everyday without a problem and they just dont post about it. You might just to read posts of people here that report things wrong and are assuming all trucks are having the same problem. Sometimes things aren't perfect, that's what warranties are for.

If you're that worried about buying a truck that might not be perfect, look into getting something else.

What you mean that it could potentially need some work?

Sorry I should have been more clear my Silverado has 250k on it and she needs some work not the toyota. I can't wait for the Tacoma to come in so I can finally have a reliable vehicle. The Chevy was a great truck but it may need a new ring and pinion and some other stuff

This is my first Tacoma, which I've had for a little over a week now; I couldn't be happier.

Got a SnugTop Rebel...like the looks of a Quicksand with a topper...new style rotary latch, dropdown front window, headliner with dome powered LED, side sliders with screens, price was $2022 all inclusive with tax...one thing to mention for you guys is that they remove the front bed "crossbar" and re bed and seal it as this is a leaking area problem on Tacomas...

That looks great, Taco Seattle. I would love to hear your MPG difference, if any. Is it a good color match? I've really enjoyed your photos. I've got a quicksand coming late March.

Mad Taco - Apparently SnugTop does not use the same paint manufacturer as Toyota so the color is just barely sightly different but essentially unnoticeable. BTW SnugTop gives a Lifetime warranty on their paint and fiberglass structure.

Here is a MPG test I did yesterday. Full fuel, no passenger, rolling freeway but no major elevation gains, light traffic, 62 mph on cruise control, otherwise empty truck...from the 24 mpg shown I would have to conclude that there is minimal aerodynamic drag change either way and that the SnugTop does not decrease freeway fuel milage due to shape change. But you have to account for the extra weight -equivalent to a 150 lbs passenger - in acceleration so would have to be slightly less.

I should add that I have no lift and the tires are Cooper AT3 all terrain in the stock size P265/70 16.

    Best wishes...

    Just freeway per above...
