 Thanks, love the access cabs! Working on mine slowly but surely, I put a lot of miles on it for work, so I'm still figuring out what to add that will be useful for work and play.

Most definitely! Our house, built in 1875, has no garage. I am envious of every garage!

Brother-in-law took the truck out after getting my SCS F5 wheels put on, out along the wasatch mountain range looking over a bit of the salt lake valley, loving the new wheels.

That is another bad ass rig. Don’t worry you’re not the only one. I thought about getting mine redone in army green also. Maybe one day...

It seems like lot's of vet's/ ex-mil buy this color. Just wondering if it would make me a "wanna be" if I buy it? ;) I do happen to really like it - along with cement!

Definitely not - plenty of vets, as well as cops, like black too, and how many black cars are driving around?

That said, I regularly get complimented on the color. While cement is cool, definitely, it would also blend in with the host of greys out there - quicksand stands out.

Why? It’s not like you’re going around claiming to be a vet or wearing the uniform like some fucktards do. It’s just an auto color with military style look available to anyone.

    Pat,

Haven’t read through the whole thread yet but did you do that or hire someone else? Is it labor intensive? Does the truck have to be perfectly cleaned of all prior waxes, etc?

    Looks great...

    Thanks dude :hattip:

Full disclaimer, I'm not a dealer or a pro at this, but I did my homework and asked plenty of questions.

I hired out for it to be done professionally. The process of applying ceramic coating is very simple. However, the process of proper paint correction is not.

In short, the vehicle's paint has to be entirely clean and free of defects. Because ceramic coatings form a chemical bond with the paint, it's important to eliminate any imperfections (swirl marks, scratches, and adhesives are big ones). Otherwise, these imperfections will be more or less permanently on display. So, before the ceramic was applied, the vehicle was cleaned, stripped down to the paint, paint corrected, polished, and finally applied with 9H Ceramic Pro - this is generally only available to professional shops and is stronger than your typical DIY stuff.

One cool factor is that this service has also been applied to the vehicle's value. If someone were to look up the Carfax, for example, the ceramic coating would show up.

The process took 5 days for a team of 2-3 techs.

Overall, the cost was not small, but I never intend on selling the Tacoma. So, if I want to keep it for decades without it looking like a pile, doing preventative measures while it's new makes sense to me. For those who lease/keep their vehicles for 2-3 years at a time, I would not think it to be worth it.
