I've been truck less for over a month. Haven't been that way for 25 years.

    I feel.....incomplete. Empty.

    So sad....

It was a great rig but getting old and figured I'd sell it while the market was hot for them. Downsizing and going back to sleeping in the bed or a tent.

Dogs will not be happy come hunting season, lol..

Thought I'd officially join the Quicksand Club, I bought my new 2016 Tacoma TRD Off-Road 4x4, Access Cab, Long Bed, Quicksand/Gunmetal on May 11th in Houston, TX with 7 miles on the odometer then drove it home to Port St. Lucie, FL the same day. I ordered it with the Premium & Technology Package, Mud Guards, Tri-Fold Tonneau Cover, Door Sill Protectors and 5" Black Oval Sidesteps. Since taking delivery I have added WeatherTech Liners front & rear, factory bed mat, tailgate Pop & Lock, replaced all rear exterior light bulbs with LED's, front turn signal and side marker bulbs with LED's, fog light bulbs with yellow/amber bulbs, replaced mirror with Gentex/Toyota Tacoma Limited HomeLink Mirror. This weekend -weather dependent- I hope to be installing the LED bed lights, Plasti Dip'n the grill black and installing a PulseProtects CHMSL (3rd brake light) pulsing module.

In the very near future I plan on adding a hidden winch, underhood ARB twin compressor system, shovel/axe/hi-lift jack mounted to bed track rails, Hellwig rear anti-sway bar, rear disc brakes, long-range fuel tank, 17" TRD Pro wheels and some other goodies.

Currently I'm trying to figure out a way to utilize the cargo light switch from the 2016 D-cab to operate the bed lights. I have the part numbers for the switch and correct switch cluster panel but need to check out a buddy's 2016 D-Cab TRD Sport 4x2 to see if the unused connector behind the lower dash panel on my Tacoma is the one being used for the cargo light on his, if so I'll be ordering the correct OE switch and panel for a factory look and functionality. If anyone has any information about the unused connector it would be great to hear from you.

I am super impressed with this truck and if weather permits I'll be posting photos of my "Quickie" soon...

Just a thought on leveling the front - I added a Snugtop Shell at about 150 lbs and that amount of weight leveled, mostly, the truck with stock suspension. Before jacking the front up, you might take some time and consider your long term plans for your truck and how much weight you will have in the bed.

Picked up a tan Pelican cooler ... matches paint pretty well and was way cheaper than a Yeti.

I apologize for the photo quality and the lighting, I need to get my truck to the beach for better photos. Anyway, I promised to post a photo when I could, I took these after dipping my grill...

Dipped my grill and emblems today. Pretty easy overall. Just take your time. I think it really improves the look of the truck.

Are you in North Spokane? If so when I drive by your truck it reminds me why I am waiting for my Quicksand TRD OR MT that is still 2.5 weeks from being built. Thanks for the inspiration and Nice Truck!

North Spokane, yes. My Taco needs some lift still. Hopefully not to much longer.

Does the Fab fours bumper fit over stock body plastic or did you have to remove some of the facia and lower valence areas?

First the package weighs 315lb and the crate is huge. Yes, the bumper and cover is removed. The headlights have clips that need to be cut off with a buzz wheel. The fender flairs need to be cut. The fog lights plug in to the factory plugs. It took me around 2.5 hours to put it on by my self. A second hand would make it a lot faster.

@wrfforgotten let me know if I can lend a hand with the lift. I'm about a mile north of you near Whitworth. I'll even bring beers!

Nice DCLB! I'm waiting on mine and I away from DCLB to DCLB and if I made the right decision. Looks super long in some pictures but perfect in others. Yours looks perfect. Thanks for the share and can't wait to see more progress on the build

I traded my FJ for a '16 TRD OR DCSB in quicksand. I LOVED my FJ, one of the most rugged and reliable vehicles I've ever owned. I got screwed on the trade, prices have skyrocketed on FJ's as of late (since they're no longer making/selling them in the U.S.). Had I waiting 2 months to trade I would've made out great on it. If I could have talked my wife into it I would have kept the FJ and bought the Taco : ) I miss my FJ, sad they're not going to be making them now. But I'm getting used to the Taco and am working on getting new tires/lift soon.

Good luck on whatever route you go!
