How would a block make the leafs "stiffer"? I would imagine it would be the same as stock. It's not like the mounting surface changed its area?

+1 on recommendations for leafs, either full packs or AAL. I have been leaning towards HS AAL.

A buddy owns a shop and told me the lift block put the springs in a bind , I picked up the icon
3 leaf AAL in the rear with 5100s all around to me it rides better than stock .

It won’t, as long as the axle plate and shock travel wasn’t altered. And if the overload leaf was left in that can make a difference in stiffness. Bump stop too. Lots of factors

Which option would you recommend and how much is “a little weight”?

A lift block is used when you want to lift the rear end, but don’t want to change the performance or dynamics. The only think it alters is the driveline angle. All other quantities remain the same.

If you don’t like the ride with the lift block, you won’t like it without the lift block.

Toyota leaf springs have little or no arch from the factory. This is intentional as it gives the best ride possible with an empty truckbed as the spring compression and droop are mostly equal. Toyota anticipates most people will never load the bed so opts on the side of a flattish soft spring for unloaded performance.

Tire pressure and possibly shocks would be the place to start. Hard to find a softer leaf spring than the OEM Toyota springs, so it’ll only get harsher with something rated for more weight.

    Far to much money spent.
I used option 1 got close to 2 inches of lift after settle. Weight only for winter is 2 40 pound gravel bags and whatever is in my swing cases.

So just been researching. Anyone have experience with hammer hangers? Website says it eliminates the jittery rear end.
