Been searching and only have found one that gave a trailer hitch class.
Just think that it is weird that all of trailer weight or recovery energy is held by that 1 little pin.

It does seem weak when just thinking about it. But it's hardened steel and takes a LOT of force to shear it.

I just found a spec on Drawtite, they rate their 5/8" pin which is what fits in all Class 3 and 4 hitches their own 31000lbs. That's pretty immense, you also have to realize that their other pin is in a 3/4" holes so it only has +/- 1/16" of play. That small increment would keep very little energy from building up when snatched.

Yeah I just wanted to make sure I'm not getting a China knock off, and sending my mean mother recovery point through someone's vehicle.

Oh, haha. Yeah, I'd stray away from cheapo brands in this case.

I like the Factor 55 Hitchlink 2.0. Lightweight 6000 series Aluminum weighs less than 2 lbf. Rated at 9500 lbf with ultimate failure in tests at 51000 lbf.

I've been winched out by the hitch and passenger hook already. Also after wheeling with a couple guys who used Bubba rope I will never buy a metal shackle. They get lost in water and deep snow and seize in sub zero temps. (may not apply to some of you)
The bubba's are awesome. I'll definitely be getting some vs metal shackles.

I just bought some tow straps from Harbor Freight. I ironically used it a few weeks ago when my shooting spot was rutted out. Got pulled out by a Suburban.

I have one on my truck. I didn't take any pictures during the install, but it replaces the factory aluminum crush bar with a really heavy duty steel mount. If I remember correctly, it is held on by 4 studs that come through a welded plate near the front of the frame. I opted for the recovery points up front and they are extremely heavy duty. I have a picture of the front in on my build page that shows the recovery points sticking out in the front. I used them last weekend to pull out a Toyota Highlander that was stuck in about 2 feet of snow in Tahoe. After I got home, I pulled the trigger on the Smittybilt receiver hitch D-ring just to have an extra tow point in the rear.

I don't know if the guys at Undercover Winch Mount Systems are offering anything for the 2016+ yet, but I can say that there customer service was outstanding and I would recommend them to anyone in the market for a great looking winch mount and/or extra recovery points.

So, would you recommend recovering with a snatch strap with just a pin in the receiver as ARB says too, or with a d ring shackle?

*edit* either will work, but if just using a pin, make sure to snatch straight and not from an angle, that way the edges of the receiver do not start to cut the strap. But very useful to know that you can just use the pin.

Not recommended to keep it on. Just put it on when needed.

You should take the bow shackle off when driving. It should not be tight when using the shackle for recovery. Making it tight and then using it can weld the thing shut and you'll never get it apart. Leave about a 1/4 turn loose
